Since you're east coast, try NH, VT, and ME dealerships. They will be larger volume dealerships so they should have a higher allocation, but they won't have as much demand due to the winters and BRZ's RWD.
I bought mine from ME, I would recommend this method.
Shipping a car is not difficult, I would take the small hit money wise to get it to you. Especially if you have had your test drive and are just looking for the options you want. if a dealer has it on their lot. you could buy it and have it shipped in 2 days, like in my case.

Thanks for all the quick replies! I test drove it and loved it! Drove my friends fr-s a little while ago and it's the same thing just but the BRZ is better looking with more options. The dealership I went to is the largest on the east coast and a family friend. He said I can order one but who knows when it will come in. He's currently emailing some one higher up in Subaru to find out how many white ones are before me so he can give me a better idea when I'll get my white one. Should hear around Wednesday so I'll keep everyone updated. Probably going to pull the trigger on ordering the car in a few weeks maybe month. I'm guessing I won't see it till wintertime but it's ok I'm not really in a rush and have snow tires on steelies sitting in my basement ready to go.

If you can accept different color or trim, give dealer your phone number. They sometimes have cars which were ordered, but not purchased. You may be able to get one right from the lot. That played to me - only three weeks of waiting, but got limited instead of premium.

I have to laugh at how short your waiting times are. When I ordered, the ETA was a year and it's climbing...

^^^Damn that sucks but it'll be all worth it in the end unless they improved the car by the time you get yours,

I still waiting on mines as well I ordered beginning of June. Could have had it by July end by they got in the wrong color so they had to re-order the correct color for me.

Turns out there is only one white limited manual tranny in the country that's on order right now so I'm going to pull the trigger and order one tomorrow! He said it should be at the dealership by the end of November.

I called my local Subaru dealer and the lady on the phone told me straight up, I could order one, but don't expect to get it until 2014. So I didn't bother with them, and expanded my search nation-wide, like many others did.

I probably know why there are so few whites are here - this is one of the worst colours for a car. The only case when white exterior color is appropriate is for a convertible with all white leather interior. Red and both shades of blue are much better in person on FRS/BRZ than any other colors.

White, besides making hard to keep it visually clean, just shouts - I am CHEAP! You better have car that looks more expensive, rather than cheaper than it is.

I'm not too worried that an STI version will be released before I get mine. At least I don't think it'd be released so soon in Australia. The problem is demand far outweighs supply here. The whole country is only getting 50 per month! Subaru see Australia as a small market share and we get very few as a result and they have no intentions to bring more in.

I forgot to mention, Subaru is trialling a world first in Australia - you can only order online, the car is not sold through dealerships. 2012's allocation of cars (201 Australia-wide) sold in 3.5 hours when they were first released back in July...and it only took that long because the amount of orders that came in crashed the site. There's no room for negotiation but also no dealer can markup the car over RRP. We still get screwed over on car prices more than anywhere in the world, but at least this car wasn't as ridiculously marked up as other.

My BRZ is costing AUD$42,225 or in your terms in USD$43,225 at the current exchange rate. I spec'ed the same car on the Subaru US website and came out at USD$30,114. You guys have it good.

I actually felt the opposite about the white. It looks so classy. White used to be considered an economy car color but nowadays, you'll see a lotta luxury cars with it. It really comes down to paint quality IMO. Saw an M3 and an R8 the other day in white and i couldn't stop drooling. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any color for the BRZ, but I ordered a white with no regrets. My second choice was a WRB.

And this isn't white. Its a pearl white. Has a lot of depth and looks fantastic, especially with dark wheels and tinted windows. Yesterday I saw a pearl white Murciélago which looked amazing. Anyhow, to each his own, and shortly I'll own a pearl white BRZ.
