Nah it's not that simple. I went to Singapore before, and people there were extremely anti-Japanese as well. Is it for those same reasons you listed? I think not, Singapore doesn't have the CCCP governing them. One problem people have with Japan over there, this may or may not be true, I dunno but this is what people say, is Germany made amends and admitted their wrongdoings and teaches about what they did in school, while Japan tries their best to deny their war crimes and their modern day shady dealings (which I'm not convinced exist, but again...that's what people say). I have definitely heard stories about how typical Japanese people don't know about Japan's war crimes in WWII because the government tries to keep it under wraps. My own close friend who is Japanese claims they never did anything in the war, and that it is all propaganda designed to make them look bad. Additionally, I have heard several stories of Chinese people who went to Japan and then received hostile treatment from some Japanese people (albeit few).

I don't know about you, but what I know paints a pretty clear picture for me. Some grudges can never be forgotten.

And yea, transmission. Heh. Going back a page or so, now that I know exactly what Hybrid Synergy Drive is, I must say I have a ton of respect for Toyota for developing that. They need to hurry and get their hybrid sports car out to let all the misinformed people understand the true nature of the device. I can't believe that all this time, I didn't think an electronic "CVT" transmission existed, when Toyota created the nearly perfect powertrain already!

EDIT: Oh the Mao thing would make sense actually. If he visited somewhere and they gave him a Buick to ride in, it would make sense that people think they're nice cars. Of course the being American made thing still represent good quality in people's minds for some strange reason. People in China don't consider as many things as we do when they buy cars lol.

I was just checking my Motor Trend app and it states that the $17,500 gets an optional dual clutch auto tranny for $1250. If Hyundai can have a dual clutch for a reasonable price why can't Toyota. I'm hoping for a DCT even though it will probably have a power robbing torque converter. Just my .02

I don't think it's a matter of can so much as a matter of need to. Toyota already has ridiculous sales numbers where as Hyundai is trying to flood the market. To do that Hyundai needs to offer what the competition isn't for less money than the competition would. In the mean time we get some pretty cool offerings from Hyundai.

Do you think the FT will use the same paddle shifters as the one in the Camry? :/

http://www.autoguide.com/manufacture...ideo-1594.html

And from this article:

"Perhaps most surprising, however, are paddle shifters and when the transmission is popped into the “S” sport mode, it will even rev-match on the down shift."

Yea? Nay?
