IF you do claim this as an accident through your insurance corporation, it will be titled as a damaged vehicle. IF you DO NOT claim any damages, they will never even mention it. At least, that's how it is here in B.C.

Glad to hear that you, your daughter, and your car is alright!

Oh jeez, congrats on being safe - good job on keeping an eye out for things like, I feel that much better because I like to look in the rear mirror for no reason occasionally, I might even do this more now.

There should be no reason whatsoever for your insurance to go up, I'd have a lot of beef with the company if they did give me charges for that

edit - TX drivers are bad bc there are no turns anywhere?? lol

Thanks for the feedback... I'm not going to report this via my own insurance, and most probably won't even contact the oppositions insurance.

One of the officers was pretty firm that since I was barely touch, then that meant that I was involved in the collision and had to be recorded. The second officer was going to not even record into their system about me or my vehicle because there was no damage that he could spot at all... But the first officer input me in the system with my info, and it was too late for the second officer to do anything... He felt bad for me, but I was left as is.

Maybe I should've not mentioned that I was even touched...

It's not your fault.
There is no damage.
And you were rear ended which make the other driver 100% at fault.

Stop worrying about your insurance.

Nothing will happen.

Thanks for the input.

Yes, I can only hope and expect for my insurance not to go up... Still need to contact my local agency to verify tomorrow.

EDIT - Yes, Texas drivers get used to the straight roads way too easily, haha...

It should not be recorded. I got into an accident on my last car. Badly damaged the car in front of me. I ended up needing a new hood, headlights, radiator, driver side headlight and fender. I immediately called my insurance company.

There is no record of it on carfax or autocheck because the air bags DID NOT deploy. You should be fine.

The collision was not your fault therefore your insurance company will not be looking at your driving record whatsoever. I'd report it anyways. You never know if something happened and insurance companies can remove your coverage if you do not report a collision within 24 hours. If this happens it is very likely another insurance company will offer you insurance.

So glad to hear there were no injuries at all.

I can understand why you would be worried then. The police would only record your information for their own written incident report purposes. If you do not claim any damages through your insurance company they are most likely not going to title it as a "damaged" vehicle. From my understanding, it's only when you place your hands out and ask "give me the money and fix my car"... that they then have to change the title of your vehicle.

Your accident wasn't your fault, is that why it wasn't recorded?

Well, it's not my fault as all of you have mentioned... So I won't pressure myself as much anymore.

Your perspective makes sense, I suppose... I may sit tight for the time being and keep my fingers crossed...

That's what was in my mind, as well... Yet the situation can make one question all over again for one reason or another... Nervous, you could say. Been through several accidents, and now I'm enduring through the ones that aren't my fault these days... A good thing, I would think.

Can't express enough of how much I agree with you.

My kid was and is my priority... Me and the car are secondary. The thing is that she was siiting in her car seat in the rear, and she was closer to being hurt than me. No child deserves to even come close to danger, and it's hard for me to swallow when I even think back further & deeper.

Oh my accident was totally my fault. The person in front of me was injured but that's what they get for applying the gas, chickening out and stopping in front of me in the middle of the intersection while I looked to my right and left to make sure no one was going to run the red light on those sides.

In my post I meant to write that if you lose your insurance do to not reporting an accident if if it's not your fault and you have no damage they can terminate your coverage and it's likely no other company will approve you

I see.

I didn't know that not reporting a neutral situation could affect negatively. Will have to research that further...
