My dad works for the government and I called him the day of the shut down to see what happened.. He got a raise lol. But on the sad end, my best friend's mother got furloughed and their money is tight. It's terrible to see that it happened to his family, especially since his mother brought in the primary source of income.

Hi. My agency is closed. I'm a contractor, not a federal employee so I don't get back pay. My mom's agency is closed and she's a contractor as well. This week was admin leave (they work and get paid), next week is vacation, then next week is LWOP. I've been on LWOP the whole time.

Is your company forcing you to take leave without pay or laid off?

If you are laid off, apply for unemployment benefits immediately, just in case.

I'm not racist...but the reality of some black people can never be fully understood...now that I have your attention ill explain

I'm from Brooklyn. My dad was in the army so we moved a lot but I love city life and culture regardless of ethnicities. I see post on Facebook about black oppression then ill see white people comment "color card, we don't want you here, you don't like it then leave" and I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion but ignorance is sad, especially when some white people are brought up with that mentality instead of forming their own opinion. Conversation goes a long way... now this is why I say all of this

My dad, a SFC in the army went jogging because he had drill this weekend. Some white kid in a pick up purposely went on the shoulder and almost hit him. He had to jump in the grass or he should be dead. So when I saw this pick up I stopped traffic to confront him. Not with ignorance or a ill f you up altitude. But just letting him know be careful because you don't know who you'll get the attention of when you're doing stupid stuff. He was very understanding and we went our separate ways. To this day I'm still bothered because I wonder when will this shit stop...or Will it ever.

Now is a great time for advancedment and looking at what you want to do, if you want to continue down the IT trend I can give you some books and other things that will help you study for certs that are very valuable. Take this time to learn and do more professional development and it will pay off come later on .

I know it's there I know it's enforced in some areas...but it's sad how someone's mind can be so undeveloped if the reason for hate is color
