Sports cars can have muscle and good handling.

the M3 smashes the FR-S in every category..... although is twice as much....

Dear Toyota, I will tattoo Scion or Toyota or Subaru, or a combination of the three brands if I am rewarded with something as little as a TRD package in whiteout. Will accept a tattoo of a dookie on my forehead if it hurries the development of the new supra. I'll take the hit for all you guys.

I'd put the M3 in more of the grand tourer category. At least, the newest generation.

To some, the truest of the true sports cars were the British sports cars of the 50's - 70's (MG, Triumph, etc.). I don't think many of them had over 100HP, yet they were/are fun to drive and set the standards of sports cars that we still use today.
BTW, technically, the FR-S/BRZ is NOT a true sports car. Traditionally, a sports car only has two seats and to the real purists, has to be a roadster (convertible), not a hardtop (fixed head coupe).

Also BTW, the Chevy Corvette, which some consider to be the ULTIMATE sports car, was a slug in the 1970's. 150 - 200 HP, mid 15's - 16's in the 1/4 mile, 0 - 60 in about 8 - 9 seconds, and maybe .70 on the skidpad.

Funny replies.

But yes, he's just being a ****head about the whole thing. He's the type to write off anything under the $60K price tag, the guy that will ask you "how's your Toyota going?" LOL.

Just can't wait to pick mine up and take him for a spin once and for all

He replies "Of course! I'd be concerned if you couldn't handle a car that slow!"

I then mention how every car journalist has rates the car.

His argument is that Toyota paid off every car journalist... either with money or by giving them an actual 86.

I said "that's ridiculous".

He said "well it does explain why you can't even buy one - cos they gave them all away!"

He's good for a laugh, thought I'd share this.
sounds to me like the man's a "muscle car" freak!

Lol You guys in Australia are not supposed to get anything RWD from Subaru anyways. All of the models that are sold in Australia has to be 4WD.

That was pretty funny haha!

But you can't determine what a sports car is by numbers. It's biased and therefore invalid reasoning...the first sports cars probably had like 30hp and in the mid 20th 200hp was plenty of HP.

The way I see it, defining sports cars is like defining sex...

Being a journalist myself, I have to say Toyota did NOT pay us off. If you've ever driven the car and had a chance to actually experience the car, for what it was originally designed for, its one amazing piece of machinery. Having driven the car a few times before I got mine was what inspired me to get one.

He is right about one thing. The power output of cars like the FRS/BRZ help to preserve its handling balance. Im pretty sure those V8 MX5's don't handle as well as the 4 cylinder base versions.
