the reason check engine light is on is because your car is running lean. too much air not enough fuel to combust in the mixture. i learnt this in my 08 model corolla from australiand done tonnes of research and tried changing alot of things but nothing worked. i also had an injen intake, seems to be a common problem with injen products. only way to get rid of the CEL is to tune your car or put back the stock intake setup and u'll see that u'll never see the CEL agian. |

I recieved my Injen intake yesterday and I installed it last night but I haven't had any problems with it. I'll report back if I start having any problems. Has anyone had problems with their car in the past prior to the intake such as the idle issue or anything like that and how many miles are on the cars having problems? Luckily the only issue i've had with mine so far is the cricket chirps and im sitting at right bellow 3k miles.

Glad to see your enjoying your intake! Did you experience any BOG issues? Lol intake makes engine sound nicer that's worth the money in itself

Permanent codes stay until the computer sees the problem is fixed. U can clear the MIL but the codes will stay stored in the computer for a few drive cycles.

i really can't see the point in putting an intake on the 86 when drop-in filters show comparable (still negligible) gains.
if stock power isn't enough, you probably either bought the wrong car, or planned to go turbo. adding a piece of tube with a filter on the end of it isn't going to fix the power issue. by the time you patch together a bunch of NA mods to try and fill the gap and stave off the aggressive kia sedona drivers, you're half way to solving the problem for real with a turbo kit. then, when you finally realize that FI is the only way to the real power you knew you were going to want when you bought the car, you sell all the old NA stuff at a loss. not smart. save your money and buy a turbo if you care about power. |

This car responds really well to bolt ons and a tune, trust me! I have spent about $1500 on everything and am totally satisfied, even coming from a stock '07 350z. Now the Injen intake, well, you're right.. It's utter garbage. I'm going to reinstall my stock intake as soon as I can get my unichip cable so I can reprogram for it. If I get the money, I'll switch to a true CAI, but for now I'll just buy a drop-in.

Dsport magazine did some great tests on the FRS/BRZ intakes:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujAf_Hpppqg"]2013 Scion FR-S Intake: INJEN Dyno Test - YouTube[/ame] Long story short they only gained 5.61 hp, I suggest you watch there other reviews as well.

Anyone know how the hell to reach that 10mm bolt in the back?
I couldn't secure it with my standard ratchet (think I need an extension) - ended up dropping one of my nuts into the car - and I can't get it back - so now one of my nuts is permanently stuck inside the hood! Stop giggling... |
