Don't let it put you off, it's a tiny delay on the 86 and there are aftermarket throttle pedal units that boost that signal to make it virtually instantaneous. I'm sure there will be one for us too.
Thank you guys for re-assuring. This is definitely will be my next car. Sierra, yes the part you explain "You could tap the throttle and nothing would happen, then the engine would do a rev! " this is the problem I had with my Altezza, I find much harder to blip and match the rev when downshifting.
