BACKGROUND
While this idle issue may manifest itself as an initial dip, please only add your name if you have experienced a combination of the check engine light (CEL) and slip light (SL) in addition to the RPM hunting at idle (often severe shaking and stalling). The code your engine control unit (ECU) should have stored is P0019 (also optional P0017, P0018 or related cam codes).

Toyota and Subaru have developed various solutions for this issue which have not been consistent and may require multiple repairs or even vehicle replacement due to limited success. Repairs could include a combination of the following: replacing cam sprocket assemblies, replacing oil control valves, reflashing and/or replacing the ECU. To expedite service and express your concerns, be sure to contact the corporate customer service numbers below.

My car runs like shit now; acceleration is very slow, and it seems extremely jerky/super sensitive to drive now, compared to before the issue started. Has anyone else been having this problem? My mileage has also dramatically decreased, from about 27 city/32 highway to 22 city/25 highway.
It's been 10 days and still no info from the dealership as to when my new ECU will be in. Luckily, my FR-S is being prepped for SEMA at my sponsor's shop so I won't be putting any more stress on it, but still frustrated about the long wait

bummer, what horrible timing!

You might at least be able to transfer your track day to someone else; some clubs allow that. Or maybe even they'll give you a rain check.

Dealer said a rep from toyota had to come out and reflash the ECU. Gave me a mazda 2 to drive until then. Mazda makes happy cars that are always smiling.

Making a gangster rap cd to bump in this thing.

Unhappy Update: Possible idle issue?

So I've experienced 2000 trouble free miles. There's a weird smell that I think is anti-freeze but I can't seem to find any evidence of a leak. I mounted my snow tires tonight and while I was heat cycling them I noticed this while I waiting for my tires to cool down...

...when the engine was warmed up the engine idle was cycling between 800 down to 400 RPM and back. Is this the beginning of another CEL?

The track I go to is pretty laid back, I didn't pre-register or anything. You kinda just show up, pay 130$ and do 4 or 5 20min sessions.

So no big loss, just unfortunate being the last event of the season. Snow is in the forecast next week.

Well, it's not hunting real hard like the CEL dip, that's not so bad I know with everything I've read that some little dips are common but I know you've read all or more the same stuff.
I also smell coolant burn off now that I can smell things again. But I spilled a little (3 drops)when I added some in CT that first weekend after flash. I was trying to do all I physically could to keep the cel gremlins at bay being so far from my dealer.
I can't tell if I'm smelling things now just because I'm afraid or over reacting or just plain paranoid.
But I still smile when I rev her stinkin ass out!

Fudge...
I'm #2 on this list. Lights came on the night I bought the car. Cam sprocket replaced, ecu replaced. Took forever. Fuel pump also replaced for the chirp. Finally had the car for a solid 6 days without anything going wrong until driving to work this morning,... lights came back. I hate my car.

Anybody else's CEL/SL come back from the dead recently?
