I finally picked up my 86 on Tuesday night but I had to drive 416km (260 miles) to get one of the very few 86's here in South Africa. The high spec model was only realeased mid August so stocks are extremely limited at the moment. Anyway, final price on the vehicle here came to ZAR334k. (Approx. 40100 USD) And that's just for the stock high spec manual. I plan on getting the windows tinted a bit darker and also getting the TRD bootlip spoiler at a later date. So I'll be shopping around for best prices too. But as for the other extras that are available on the TRD shopping list, I'll give them a skip. The car looks great as is! :-)
but you get to live in south africa, and you make enough to pay that. If I could make enough $ to buy a 40k car for myself and live somewhere interesting like that, I would.

Jus sayin. I will admit what you are building is pretty classy but dang, can't even begin to fathom what you will be selling that for.

Is it done yet? If you want me to remove the link just say the word and I'll take it down since I just robbed the URL from a photo you posted.
Banking on that being 5k over MSRP

I lol hard when dealers put 19" on a basic frs as if its going to look nice...I mean really. Might as well add a lip kit and suspension in that markup. Atleast it'll make more sense and look more presentable.

Yeah I actually wouldn't mind that car (sans the audio system), but that's because I built what I like. Very rarely do I want someone else building my car before I get it. Plus sales departments like to add markup on everything. The nice thing is you can finance it all into the deal I guess, but that's not enough of an appeal. As for the pricing of it, I don't even know what they're going to ask for the car, it's kind of a display piece at the moment. I'm sure it will get priced according to what was done to it. It's going to be expensive. (It is done though, I've been meaning to post some pictures/information about it).

Most sales departments just throw accessories on to have accessories on it. Sure you can get the "$4000 Alloy Wheel Upgrade" but it's got the cheapest tires you can find on some relatively ugly wheels, etc. I also find that a lot of technicians don't take their time, so a lot of accessories are poorly installed and/or factory parts are scratched/damaged while they are "doing what they do".

Customizing a car is (in my opinion) a personal thing. To force dealer-installed options on a customer is bush-league. They usually use low'ish-quality cheap aftermarket accessories too. Even North-American supplied Toyota genuine accessories are sometimes of questionable quality in my opinion. At least they come with a good warranty.

That being said, there are a lot of people who will buy cars that have dealer-installed modifications and accessories and will pay what sales departments are asking for them. There's a reason dealerships keep doing that kind of stuff to cars.

@Jeff Lange - The car is looking really good. Photos you added today of the wheels, drop, and audio are great. It's gonna cost a lot for sure. Audison amp... high end everywhere on this car. Good job and good luck. Now that I see the finished product I think you will sticker it at $43,000 would be my guess. The crazy thing is that it is still less money than a stock model in Australia or Japan

I think a lot of dealers were caught out by the demand for this car. The ones that are getting very few of them allocated to them are trying to squeeze every last dollar out of them by covering them with hugely marked-up accessories.

I didn't have ay installed on my car, thankfully.
