It was the third vehicle on my insurance policy, I had no points on my license, and no accidents on my record. When I moved to Florida, the same coverage for the same vehicle, with the same company dropped to $120 a month/$1450 a year. Go Go New Jersey!

As far as insuring my Talons, they were both north of $200 a month/$2400 a year each to insure. In Florida, they were/are both $70 a month/$840 a year.

That's over $10,000 for insurance for the year before I moved down to Florida that is now just over $3000.

When the FR-S is released, depending on what I end up buying, I'm going to downgrade some of my insurance coverage. On my AWD Talon I'm just going to have dragracersinsurance.com which is pretty cheap ($675 on the FWD Talon). Probably just going to have liability on the RX. And I may sell the Tundra or trade it in on the FR-S/GC.
Michigan is horrible on insurance too. When I had my 2002 Protege5 insured there, I was paying $250/mo for minimum coverage. Compare to the $92/mo I paid in Georgia for full coverage on my 2000 Celica GT-S a year later.

Also have to remember MI is a no fault state. Plays into how insurance underwriters come up with the formulas.

State farm seems to want to charge me around $105/mo no matter what I drive... been paying around that same about for my last 5 cars, even with changing deductibles, coverage etc.

Thats intersting.

Here we have...

3rd party. It just covers any damage you cause to other cars etc.

3rd party fire and theft.

Full cover.

its the way to go. dirt cheap, great suspension, you can get alot of rubber under the fenders and a bottom end designed for forced induction and a huge aftermarked. plus im 25 and i pay 729 for insurance a year for both my miata and protege.

just saw this today!

In a surprising yet also unsurprising move, Ford is killing off the CD player in the Ford Focus in Europe. Soon, they'll be purging CD players from the rest of their line too. Are we ready for this in America?

http://gizmodo.com/5828117/ford-is-p...rom-their-cars

looks like the FT with no CD player is getting closer to reality...

I can't remember the last time I used a CD player in a car. Good riddance, I say.

It's about time. I haven't listened to a CD in a car/truck since 2005 when I moved down here. Hell, I haven't even had a CD drive in my computer for at least 5 years. F*** CD/DVD/BRD's, USB drives all the way!

Simple CD Drive? no.
Combo-drive CD/DVD burner with Lightscribe? yes.
I still have clients request their files on a DVD or CD from time to time so I can't get by without it on my computers.

I guess I'm just old, lazy, and set in my ways because I listen to CD's in my car everyday...If the FT-86 doesn't come with one I'll add a better aftermarket one.

No iPod/iPhone/Droid with your own play lists + Pandora?

NO!

That would be the lazy part. I don't feel like sitting down one day and spending hours ripping my CD collection and setting up playlists on my walkman. (yes I am an Apple hater)

Right now I just grab 6 CD's and go. It works for me but obviously I'm in the tiny minority who refuse to accept new technology.

If it saves weight, I say, "Kill 'em. Kill 'em all."

But, then, I'm all about power-to-weight.

P.S. You can always play your Selena Gomez tracks on your girly little iPod, dude.

I've never owned an iPod or PMP, too lazy to throw everything on my phone because I never find myself wanting music out of it, or I never have headphones. My work truck is AM/FM radio only, and my Miata is CD only. Sometimes I'll pop in a CD, but most of the time I just skip music while driving, the Bose stereo sounds like shit anyway.

I have all my albums ripped to FLAC and MP3 though, so it'd be pretty easy to work with if the FT came with USB audio.
