Just excited this car is somewhat making progress and actually put on lists of cars to buy for 2012. Anyway I took a picture of the Motortrend excerpt, enjoy.

Base Price: $24,000* <-- did you check what the asterisk meant on the bottom of the page?

It seems as though the magazines are behind with their data compared to the forums. Its kind of weird to think that it wasn't too long ago when there weren't too forums and car magazines were the main source of data.

Mags typically have a 1-2 month lead time from the time it gets written to hitting news stands, so it's just the nature of print vs. online.

The reason of hatchback

I think from what i have seen it will be a hatch the way the seperation of the rear window and the pillars is a straightline all the way to the trunk and also this is a 2+2 config without the hatch there would no be enough room for people just my 2cents

but...

from what we've seen on the mules (and guessing what's under the swirlies) there is no evidence of it being a hatch... so...

I really hope you're wrong

Reason: Lower insurance costs if you're able click "hatchback" than if you click "coupe"!

I've always thought that insuring a hatchback is cheaper than insuring a coupe. Say, a VW R32 vs. Mustang V6 Coupe

I may be wrong, but I think it's 2 door vs 4 door that affects your insurance more. Engine size and HP are considered too.

ah... I see where you're confused. What you're comparing in your example is "performance econobox" vs "sports car." I'm too lazy to go and try to figure out the insurance rate difference between a VWR32 Golf and a Mustang V6. There's exceptions to every rule, but in general sports cars are going to have higher insurance rates than your average grocery-getter, regardless of performance trim level. And that's what the R32 is... a quicker Golf. There's a lot of factors that go into determining an insurance rate for a particular car. Cost to repair, safety options, reputation of the demographic that buys a particular car- just to name a few.

Though, if I remember, you're what? 16? When you see what the insurance rates are going to be for your age group on the 86/frs when it comes out you may decide that the beat up Camry down the street will do just fine to get you back and forth between college and home.
