I would focus on "You will be pleased," not on "maybe." The FR-S could be 2400 ibs. It is in the realm of possibilities.

Yeah but too much teasing on Toyota's and Moto-P's part. Just wish they would spill the beans on the car (weight, engine, power) and just reveal the exterior and interior at Tokyo. It will be too much for me to have everything released at one time @ Tokyo.

I think Moto said "maybe" about the weight so he could say he technically didn't say anything at all....so let's hope for sub 2600lbs

Don't bite the hand that feeds ya!! As Matador mentioned in an earlier post, Moto was in direct contact for the design of this car so essentially he knows a lot more than we think.

I know a 3344lbs 2009 VW Passat with a 200hp 207lbft 2.0 turbo can hit 60 in about 6.5 secs. For what it is worth.

Eh? I think even VW claimed mid 7s for that car.

FWIW the 2004 S2000 weighed 2835lbs, produced 240hp, and its best 0-60 record was 5.4 secs in Road and Track's test. Assuming 0-60 acceleration times are linearly proportional to weight/hp ratios, a 2600lbs 200hp car should do 0-60 in 5.4 x 240 / 200 x 2600 / 2835 =~ 5.94 secs. So yeah I'm with you that a 6-second-flat 0-60 time sounds about right for a 2600ish lbs & 200hp car.

The CC (European Passat) hit 60 in 7.3 secs in '09. I think it is a little heavier than the Passat (USA Model). I know that the times that VW publishes seams to be slower than in testing. I know my '09 was timed as being faster than mid 7s.

I've yet to see any stock times posted that are less than 7 seconds. There's a reason we call it a "pass-it".

Keep in mind 0-60 can not be accurately ascertained using JUST power/weight. One of the major contributing factors to a low 0-60 time are torque (being that you're starting from a dead stop) and how the powerband maps out. Typically on FI cars running smaller turbo's the part of the powerband that matter most (the bit leading up to the top of the parabola before power starts to fall off) is longer than an NA variant with the same power figures.
We won't be able get an accurate 0-60 until the end product is physically tested.

i know 370z will be more heavy comparing with the ft-86!! but after market carbon fiber parts can reduce the weight!!

i just wont go for the FT86 if its below 280HP!

i will wait!! if its below 280hp i will go for the 370z!

i drive Infiniti m35 now!! i dont want my daily use car to be faster than my weekend caaaar!!

It is more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow.
