Can't someone invent a heat/sound blanket to put over the pump to keep that little shit quiet?

Probably why some people are hesitant to buy an FR-S and/or take it to a Scion dealership. It's mainly a Subaru engine. And no doubt Toyota dealerships will treat the car like any other Toyota vehicle on their lot

If you're nervous about waiting for the first scheduled oil change to change out your oil after the break-in, then by all means get it done early! In the Subaru owner's manuals I've looked at, there is a 3,000 mile oil change scheduled for every car, and then after that (with synthetic) it's every 7,500 miles thereafter. I change the conventional oil in my MR2 every 5,000 miles which is the standard for late model Toyotas, although it's half of what is recommended in the owner's manual, believe it or not! The O.M. states every 10,000 miles! I'm definitely not comfortable waiting that long.\

Seriously - 0w20 pours like water!
I put new 0w20 in but . . .
I think next oil change will have 0w30
Why? Do you think the manufacturer doesn't know what's best for the engine? You're just reducing efficiency by putting heavier weight oil in.

Note that although there is a 3000 mile column, there is no scheduled action for the BRZ during that interval. According to the owner's manual the first scheduled oil change is at 7500 miles or 7.5 months.

Subaru is springing for my first two years of oil changes, but only at the factory specified intervals -- so I get three 7500, 1500, and 2250.

It's a controversial topic as to whether you need to have a first oil change after 1k or 3k miles or something.

I got mine changed at a Subaru dealer with the same maintenance plan, and they did it at 3K no questions asked, and will do four.

I brought my scion in for an oil change at 3400. Dealer said it was too early, but if I wanted it they would do it no problem.

Surprisingly the car feels slower now. Off the line and in between gear shifts it doesn't feel like it has as much power as before. Kind-of worried they didn't put the right oil in the car. Is there any way to check??

Ah glad to know some of that engine noise will be gone in another 850 miles...lol. I imagine some of that is the tranny though, going from an automatic to a manual and trying to remember to shift when braking, etc. Mind blowing shit man. Caught myself slowing to about 5 mph in 3rd gear today LOL. But how the hell would I know. Anyway, maybe another month and a half. AND I can finally take it over 4k RPMs. Will be all-around a good time indeed.

for those that the scion/toyota dealers said they wont change it till 7500, I made them change mine at 2500. They were unaware that the car had a break in period too. I requested my oil be changed and that it be covered under my 2 yr free oil plan. it can be done just demand it!
