After reading that article I have a few concerns.
1.) The story doesn't have a V.C. number. AB stands for Assembly Bill meaning that its not part of the vehicle code yet. 2.) Specific range for our vehicles. Is the FRS/BRZ classified as a LEV, ULEV? What affects do the current intakes have on the AFR of the car and does this move it close to or out of the acceptable range for our car. I know that on my S14 with injen intake/tanabe exhaust the AFR was almost always on the edge of the allowable amount. |

yeah, I'm no legislator, but from what I can tell it passed in both House and Assembly, and was approved by the Governor (Governator) in 2010. Not sure what else needs to happen before it goes into effect...
http://totalcapitol.com/?bill_id=200920100AB2289 the takeaway for me is, as long as your ECU isn't throwing codes you will likely pass. Several of my cars have catback exhausts and the smog check guy never looked twice at them, all he cared about was visual under the hood, gas cap passes the pressure test, and the emissions part on the roller/dyno (which will go away). Net effect is I think it will be easier to pass smog for most of us. If you have removed cat or have non-CARB intake yeah you will probably have to swap it back to pass, but that hasn't changed. |

The catback should be enough to swap back to stock for emissions testing, no? It shouldn't affect your warranty at all.
I personally picked the SRT headerback (or catback in your case) because I love how clean it looks.

I guess the original point of this thread is now void, because (to my surprise) when I got out of the shower this evening there was a brand new ISIS exhaust sitting on my front porch. Early birthday present, I guess!
