Heard back from Perrin - they reckon it's the diffuser obstructing airflow + muffler placement + high EGTs.

In any case, they were kind enough to ship out free replacements.

Next track event is NASA @ Lime Rock Park - Jul 8-9, going to try heat-wrapping the muffler as well as try doing the same as what the guy did with his Focus (wrap the hangers themselves in heatwrap and apply steel band around it). Bringing extra hangers just in case and check them after every session. Will report back

This sounds like the best solution to me. The reduced airflow means you probably can't do anything with convective heat (as the air in the cavity will get hot no matter how much you insulate the exhaust), but you can fight radiative heat by foil shielding the hangers.

I remember reading a post about a guy developing underbody aero for his car and he kept melting poly hangers so he went back to rubber hangers.

The poly hangers are the likely issue.

I *think* it was this thread: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1713247

edit: it was indeed that thread, see the post here https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...0&postcount=67

This is super insightful, thanks for sharing. I actually have the rubber OE mounts on right now, going to give the rubber ones a try with the above-mentioned mod.

Cheat code: if the factory rubber hangers aren't quite stiff enough to hold everything in place, I've used cheap metal hose clamps around the hanger to limit the stretch of the rubber.
see if this random interweb photo link works:

I suggest, instead of zip tie, a smidge of safety wire or a little improvised clip made from a piece of coat hanger. Dunno, maybe the zip tie will hold up. Good stuff!

Update: Great day at LRP today with NASA, both hangers holding up nicely after 4 sessions, no signs of deterioration so happy about that
