Thanks!

Yeah, they'll fit, just not the ideal offset but should be fine.
We'll call that fitment "ultra-tucked". |

Because the wheels will be 5mm inside?
At least this is only 5mm

Yours are 7.5" wide so add 6mm to each side (6+6 is 12mm =1/2") plus the 5mm difference in offset. So you end up with a wheel that is 11mm further in on inside and 1 mm further out on outside. The inside of your wheel is pretty much exactly where the inside is on my 18x9" +35 wheel. So it clears, but you are close to the strut on the inside whereas you have loads of space on the outside. A better offset for that size is between +30 to +40. You can also achieve the same offset by adding bolt-on 20mm spacers, which would give you an effective +33 offset. It's no biggie, just more of a looks/fitment/preference thing. If you like them, go for it. |

18x8+40 wheels, with 225/40R18 in front and 235/40R18 in back.
First -- are these proper tread widths for that wheel width? (How does one tell?) Second -- assuming stock height/suspension, how much danger of rubbing fenders?

I've try searching this thread without any luck. I bought a set of Enkei Tenjin 17x9 +45 offset. I've read that these wheel have a fitment issue if your running on stock suspension or spring. But I have coilovers, so I won't be having that problem. My main concern is what tire I should buy. I was thinking on getting 235/45-17 because I want to have a taller tire, as per the Wheel Directory the 245/40-17 will fit perfectly, but that would defy the purpose of getting a taller tire. So in conclusion I haven't found anyone that could assume me that the 235/45-17 will fit. Also I wouldn't mind going for a wider tire, as long that it would be taller than the OEM tire. Any help is appreciated.

Firstly, why do you want a taller tire?
