If sticking with uhauls, best bet would be one of those nice adjustable hitches that you can raise up vs the drop that hitch has.

I just got a cam superline and a wdh and it is a world of difference from a uhaul. Minus the harsher ride it is barely noticeable anything is back there. So what prevents that? Id assume my curt would still be able to hook up to a uhaul

I never really messed with WDH but thought they had to be attached to the tongue and with the surge brakes and other stuff there I don't think it'll work. Be an expensive gamble while trying to be cheap/budget renting a trailer.

Mine is like this and i guess bypasses? my 7 pin plug and where the surge brake would be. I would highly recommend it. I havent used the anti swap bar yet tho

There are some WDH that work with surge brakes, but just like working with reverse, you need to make sure you pick the right one when shopping.

The issue with any UHaul/Rental trail though will be can you attach the trailer side anchors. Some come with U-Brackets with set bolts that could work on anything, but others require drilling into or through the from so just need to look for that too. Also most will specify a distance from the hitch ball you need to mount those anchors so you'll need to measure that too for trailers with a short tongue.

Just towed for the first time with my new Ford ranger and uhual trailer. Factory suspension and everything looked good. Here is a picture of the setup. No problem with no WDH. Everything looked pretty level.
