Well... that would make sense considering the badge. Now if only Scion would get that badge too...

Naaaw, Scion has its own badge so that all can see and never forget that it is a Scion.

Therefore here in US..we might end up always calling the car FT86...and not FR-S...just like many people say...hey i own a AE86...rather than a corolla GT-S. Or hay i own a s14...rather than say i own a 240sx...hay thats a cool R34..
hey awesome ST206! Cool fucking SW20...btw i had sex in the back of my BH9 the other day...true story, right after i lost to a GC8 and a Z32 on the highway. Yes its silly and lots of bullshit..but hey thats our culture.
I would guess the possible VIN's for this car (6 spd manual):

JT1FT86CxCLxxxxxx: Toyota (JT1) FT86C (coupe), build 2012 (C), and 6 spd manual (L).

or

JF1216ACxCLxxxxxx: Subaru (JF1) 216AC (coupe), build 2012 (C), and 6 spd manual (L).

What do you think?

I'm talking about the model name, not the brand

I sorta disagree, I know that the previous Supras have been straight 6s traditionally. But if we are looking at the ideals of the Supra and not the mechanical, a compact V8 turbo would fit the bill. The 2UR-GSE engine in a hefty RWD sports chassy sounds like a proper Supra Successor to bear the Supra name.

Yeah we saw 86 piston emblem on test test car so I can see them using 86. But of course here in the US, we are already screwed with Scion. Since all of the Scion names are a lower/upper case letters, I doubt it will be Scion 86, maybe Scion fR or something on the weak side.

They'll stick with FR-S, just like the concept.

So... is anyone else concerned with the use of 86? If you've ever worked in a restaurant or production assembly, you'll know what I'm getting at..

86

To remove, end usage, or take something out or away. Despite ALL other posts suggestion the origion of this phrase there is only one true answer:

Chumley's, a famous and OLD New York speakeasy, is located at 86 Bedford St. During Prohibition, an enterance through an interior adjoing courtyard was used, as it provided privacy and discretion for customers.

As was (and is) a New York tradition, the cops were on the payroll of the bar and would give a ring to the bar that they were coming for a raid. The bartender would then give the command "86 everybody!", which meant that everyone should hightail it out the 86 Bedford enterance because the cops were coming in through the courtyard door.
"86 that light"

"IM gona 86 your ass with my 86"

Any stories about speakeasies are OK in my book.

Regardless, I will still call the FT86 personally but I will tell people that it is a Toyobaru.
