Get ready to rage. If it comes back it will be a Scion.

Not really any place in the lineup for a beast of a Sports car next to Siennas, Sequoias, and Camrys.

Not much room in a vehicle lineup aimed at people buying their first new car for a 40k+ sports car that competes with the Corvette....

They wouldn't bring it back as a Scion. Id put money on Lexus before I put it on Scion, but I still think if it comes back at all it'll be a Toyota. All they need to do is offer some TRD packaged Camrys and Corollas. Give the brand some excitement. Like Ford does with their Taurus SHO.

And the F150 Raptor, The Focus RS, The Boss 302, the GT 500, the Cobra Jet...

Pretty much. It'd likely be a Lexus if they didn't brand it Toyota. Seriosuly, any car worthy of the badge "supra" today is going to cost between $40k and $80k.

NSX stood for New Sports eXperimental.

The production car was no longer experimental, but they kept the name because it was already well-known.

So they could keep FT-86 if they wanted to...but I would be surprised if they don't give it a more memorable name.

All definitely sweet rides, but the main problem Toyota faces is their lack of lineage comparable to the "Boss", Shelby or even the Cosworth Escort/Focus. I'd definitely love to see some sort of special edition Camry's and Corolla's, but I can't really imagine what those would be other than TRD. If only Toyota's TRD team was as exciting as Ford's SVT. I wouldn't mind seeing Toyota work with Yamaha more, as Ford does with Cosworth, for their high performance and usually low displacement engines.

Toyota really needs to distinguish their brand names and put some space between them. Keep Scion as it is, the budget, first time buyer brand. Lexus their luxury flagship, old folks brand. Establish Prius as its own standalone economy brand. And return Toyota, the brand, to the fun to drive/enthusiasts brand. Bring back the damn MR2, Celica and Supra already!

It would be pretty sweet if we had a MR 2seater, FR 2+2, FF 2+2, and a high performance FR 2+2 to choose from. LFA doesn't really count.

Any name is possible atm, because nothing is official yet. It could be FT-86 in all markets, even the U.S. FR-S is just the name of a concept as of right now.

Based off the "8-6" emblem that's been brandished on the concept car, I would suspect those numbers will be a part in the car's name, at least outside the U.S. While FR-S isn't officially stated as the production name, its very likely what it will be over here.

I think the closest we're gonna get to a Supra from Toyota is a coupe version of the IS-F lol.

a v8 wouldnt fit the type of car the supra was - it would have to be a blown smaller displacement Straight 6 2.5 litre twin/triple turbo like BMW are rumored to be doing on the next m3

though i do like the is-f
