Wait a minute! Celicas made it up to 3 digit numbers. It would have to be FT286, at least.
Mind is now un-blown...

Even the Toyota Caviler stayed the same, even if they had every right and power to rename the car to Toyota Fatyank. Quote:
.. But let me get the straight, how many of you thought that FT86 was the name of the car? because since the unveiling of the car in 2009...iv always thought of FT86 as the chassis code. Much like AE86 was a chassis code...not the name of the car. I never once thought the car was going to be presented under a certain banner..like.. corolla, supra, celica, until recently when presses started to ask Toyota what they were going to name the car. Honestly I think Celica would work on the global market..returning back to their motorsports roots built on the backs from the early A series Celica/Camry/Supra models. But if we wanted to look for a modern Performance Celica, inspired with more recent motorsports history of the Celica T line...we would want a AWD Celica Alltrac, which would fit the current Subaru AWD marketing. (not the Subaru 5 year plan Motion-V) So i get that the US market will get the Scion FR-S name plate..but i also get that FR-S trademark might not hit worldwide shores. But regardless of the nameplate in japan, us, Australia, Europe, china., The Chassis will always be..ft86? Eg...a US vin might look something like this JT1FT862RCxxxxxxx Therefore here in US..we might end up always calling the car FT86...and not FR-S...just like many people say...hey i own a AE86...rather than a corolla GT-S. Or hay i own a s14...rather than say i own a 240sx...hay thats a cool R34.. hey awesome ST206! Cool fucking SW20...btw i had sex in the back of my BH9 the other day...true story, right after i lost to a GC8 and a Z32 on the highway. Yes its silly and lots of bullshit..but hey thats our culture.

but the RWD celicas ended in....6...so therefor...if we return the celica chassis design to RWD celica...we get a single digit. so mind RE-blown... F-T-8-6 it would be FT286 if the car was FWD.

But yeah, no telling what they'll end up going with. I think the FR-S (or maybe FR) fits the Scion naming model a bit better, but FR without the S just sounds a little silly imo and S has been mostly a Toyota sport designation.

Glad that name stayed overseas. Kind of on the weak side for the name of the truck.
