You can't calculate exact density altitude without knowing what the barometric pressure is, but given what you said, I think you nailed it with that assessment there.

The standard temperature at 7,000ft is 34F. The rule of thumb is to add 120ft for each degree above standard temperature. So, the approximate density altitude for that day was 7000+((100-34)*120) or 14,920ft.

Basically, on that day at that airport a Cessna 172 with a 14,000ft service ceiling would have never made it off the runway.
Yep. For non-critical applications I just use std pressure (29.92) as a rule of thumb. Beyond the application to aviation the basic lesson for me is that disasters usually result from a chain of fuckups and trying to short circuit a process usually means you miss one or more chances to catch the problem before it bites you in the ass.

Saw the pre-press release press release for the upcoming Grand Highlander this morning.

It's great they are adding a 3rd row, but I'm not seeing where there is space behind that third row for "7 pieces of luggage" with the 3rd row up, unless it is a serious optical illusion going on in their press photo.

Bottom line, when I need the third row, I also usually need the storage behind the third row. Is GM the only one that understands this?

How do I know this? My BIL does landscaping at a local cemetery and has seen it happen.

Even better: This happened last year in my hometown 15 mins away from home https://patch.com/connecticut/stonin...r-theft-report

I bring home flowers for MomHawk 2 or 3 times a year, but never around a "flower holiday" particularly Valentine's Day. We established early on that 1) I'm cheap and 2) she prefers getting them when she's least expecting them.

So funny. Mrs. Ultra calls them Hallmark holidays.

While my job is like 75% doing spreadsheets, something about doing spreadsheets unrelated to my job increased the mental capacity ten fold. And yes, I'm using formulas and letting the computer do the math

Back when I was graduating college I made a spreadsheet for budgeting. Not typical purchase budgeting, but budgeting for the different kinds of apartments/locations I'd want to live in, and of course the car I could afford. It was handy!

I have one for that lol

But I'm mostly doing it for housing costs and such.
