I did a quick search on some of the detailer sites and I came up with this guy in NYC - I can't vouch for him, but maybe you can reach out to him and see if he offers up any client referrals that you can check out: http://www.facebook.com/TedrowsMobileDetailing Found another one: http://new-york-city.xpertautodetailers.com/ Last edited by Foobar; 08-17-2012 at 02:59 PM. |

I've also heard of a few other products being thrown around, but as far as I can tell, Opti-Coat is the only one that has a proven track record at the moment. I'm sure over time these other products will gain the same status, but Opti-Coat is the only thing out there that has a huge proven result as confirmed by many customers and detailers alike.

Might consider it but no detailers in my area (Southwest Indiana-Vincennes) let alone someone that can apply OptiCoat.

If you wax your car often, then Opti-Coat isnt necessary for you. it's for people don't have time to do wax or take good care of car.
still, if you get it, it's good. |

I've been trying to but have just been really busy. And now I have a ding on the hood so I need to get that fixed first. Lucky there are a few guys around here who do it or apply something similar. Really want to do the whole opticoat, tint, and clear bra.

Call me one of those people. I don't let my PC collect dust. I have my wash/clay/wash/correct/glaze/sealant/wax routine on an annual basis with a significant sub-portion of that done every couple of months.

I haven't done it and do not plan on it... I am one of those few who enjoy waxing my car!

I don't plan to either for several reasons. I've researched and found a long term test and video demonstration of how optiguard sheets water away on a few detailing enthusiasts' cars. But I could not find evidence of the same effects/studies for opticoat. Opticoat is the consumer version riding the tailcoat of the optiguard internet sensation but they are not the same. Opticoat is much thinner with different chemical properties and will not last as long (maybe 2 years?). I don't like the idea of having something semi-permanently covering my factory finish. What if I need to buff it out for whatever reason? There is real potential in buffing past the opticoat and removing some top coat in the process. And I wanted a clear bra, regardless, but didn't like the idea of having opticoat above or below the bra. Also, what about when you need need to touch up knicks on your opticoated paint? The touched up spot may not blend in nicely with that extra layer/shell of clear opticoat.
