I don't want to say that my main motivation in tuning my WRX was so it would finally be faster than our van, but it was definitely part of the equation. Of the three vehicles, the van is the only one I should be considering a BBK for :-|
Someone commented previously in this thread about AT being faster around town because it's easy. So true. If I accelerate from a stop light in the WRX fast enough to keep pace with the CUV/truck/minivan/bicyclist/2002 Pontiac Gran Am next to me I feel like I'm Vin Diesel slamming through all 14 gears |

But that's the whole point. The third pedal is when I physically interact with the engine. It's exactly what makes my driving experience interactive and enjoyable. Heck, it's even fun when you miss a shift - and your like - "Sorry BRZ, that's on me."
Look, I don't have the luxury you do to own multiple cars (both cost and space, for now). If I did, it's possible I would be more willing to consider non MT cars. But until then, if it doesn't have a third pedal, it's not a consideration. |

Exactly! I’d give up the shifter before giving up the clutch! When people say they don’t understand why you want to shift yourself, they don’t get the point. It’s not the selecting the gear manually that’s the most important, the most important bit is the granular control you have about power transfer to the wheels.

I'd pay another $1,000 to have a PDK in this car versus the current manual gearbox. Maybe even $2,000.

Is PDK or DSG really quicker than a manual? Seeing I`m way off topic. I mean a full sequential with three pedals.

Second, Porsche charges a premium of $3,210 for a PDK in a 718. That's really the way it should be framed. So no, it wouldn't be a $50,000 car.

They charge 3200 to upgrade from the manual which is baked into the Msrp of the Pcar. I’m sure their actual cost to make is lower. The raw cost of the tranny to us peons is 20k. Anyhow yeah it would never happen regardless. Cheapest option would be a Dsg from Vw group.
