What engine oil do you guys run? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I'm on an OFT stage 2+ e85 tune as of yesterday and I heard that you should change your oil to an e85 compatible oil. I also have read about a lot of people moving to a slightly thicker oil than stock as it's better for the engine when driving hard. Does anyone have any recommendations for what oil I should run knowing this? I do a lot of very hard driving and my car only has about 3k miles on the block and I wanna make sure I maintain it and don't blow it. Thanks for any suggestions

Any good synthetic will work. 5-30 is a good one. I run 0-20 at the direction of my engine builder and IAG who supplied the short block. Their warranty is void if 0-20 wasn’t used.

Fuel and engine oil compatibility is hugely important, especially in a mechanical pump-fed direct injection vehicle.

Interesting. Reasons? Thinking fuel contamination however a high quality synthetic should eliminate any issues, correct?

Only if it’s compatible. There’s a reason Dexos is a thing.

The only correct answer to what oil to use is “NEW”. With E85 I would change oil more often.

i am pretty sure tons of people still stick with 0w-20 even using E85. educate us what will go wrong if we stick with 0w-20

Canola, but Avocado works in a pinch. Jokes aside, Motul Xcess 8100 5w30. Track driven summer car on Costco 91 or Petro 94.
