It's always the aftermarket parts.

After driving around a bit more I can conclude that the cause of the noise was indeed, somehow, the lockdowns.

Really strange as there wasn't nearly as much wear as expected but it's pretty safe to say they will not go back on. I have put 110k miles on them so they are not exactly new but I honestly would've expected a part like this to last forever.

This unfortunately brings back memories of my Perrin front end links and those fell apart right away, but I also have some Perrin parts like their oil cooler and catback exhaust which have been fantastic.

Because they did last so long and had a good purpose, I wouldn't not recommend them, but if you have them installed and have a weird binding noise, I think they are worth at least inspecting.

So sad how this seems to always be the case, but when I see cars with 200k+ miles without the same problems as me, the variable is always an aftermarket part.

I'm just glad it wasn't something expensive! Get some stiff urethane in those mounts and call it good.

Crazily enough the lockdowns actually "mummified" my stock bushings, so when I pulled the lockdowns off they looked to be in brand new condition. Not a hint of dryness.

I'm going to stick with the stock bushings for now as I don't want to get under the car again, but you are right poly bushings are the next logical upgrade for me to do.

Thank you all for your help on this.

Those lockdowns are pretty much useless anyways, speaking as someone who has them on their car.

I legit think it's the lockdowns. Never had a sound until they were installed. I'll try to make a video.
