I’m between a new BRZ or a new Mustang GT
Hear me out With either I’ll be buying a set of lightweight wheels and summer tires, along with good winter tires for the standard wheels since I’ll be DD’ing it in the winter in Chicago. If I go Mustang I won’t touch the 5.0, but I’ll be dropping ~$4k in suspension upgrades right away. If I go BRZ I won’t touch the suspension but I’ll be supercharging it (probably JRSC) as soon as it’s broken in and there’s a suitable kit available. The two are weirdly opposite. I love Mustangs and I know big NA V8s are at least as endangered a species as affordable sportscars. It’s going to be a hard call. But if it’s a BRZ, it’ll be light wheels and summer tires and likely a supercharger in the first ~year. |

1st mod will be disabling the sound generator in the cabin. 2nd mod will likely be a Brembo swap from a 08-17 STI. they are a direct bolt on and keeps the bias within 1% of OEM if you use specifically use the 08+ rears. Beyond wheels, I might lower it just a hair to fill that wheel well gap, something like the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. |

BRZ is smaller, more nimble, fun car. Nee version seems to fix the biggest complaint people had, And then with a supercharger will have very similar performance on street and probably better performance on the circuit. I would suggest to wait and drive the 22 BRZ before pulling the trigger, and I think you will not regret if you move to the Subaru’s direction. |

Silly logic and it could apply to both, but that's just how I see it considering that it will always be much easier to find a used Mustang. |

Thanks for the input gang. I think I need to just relax, realize I’m not married to it, and if the new Mustang chassis a year or two from now is lighter and has AWD I can move to one of those whenever (IF I even want to).
I can get the Mustang for a bit under Invoice but even so it’s about $10k more than the BRZ, and that’s not nothing. As much as I’d like the big engine for a DD I’ve owned an S2000 and an MR2 Turbo so I know the magic of that ~250hp / 2,800lbs / RWD combination. Best car I’ve ever personally driven was a ‘15 Cayman S and while the BRZ will never be MR it doesn’t need much additional power to hit a similar thrust-to-weight ratio. So yeah, wheels/tires and a power adder would be the only immediate plans. |

I was just thinking, there might be a good chance that it IS swappable. I'm thinking that maybe they didn't put the cupholder there on the manuals because it would interfere with shifting if there was a taller bottle or something.
