LOL

Having worked in a hospital not once have we tried to keep a patient for longer than we should have, it was often trying to keep patients that likely would benefit from longer IV steroid/IV antibiotics with the administration trying to get us to discharge people as quickly as possible because we needed beds for patients from ER. I would often have to advocate on the patient's behalf if I felt they required further treatment.

This is pre-covid. The problem with covid is that it saturates the already often saturated medical system.

New Covid cases August 2, 2021 85,866 and climbing

New Covid cases August 3, 2020 50,794 and dropping

So we're 35,000 cases farther behind the curve than we were a year ago.

Next thing: People will be saying hospitals are deliberately seeding covid in communities to increase occupancy.

edit:

A year ago, poor Tony Fauci was predicting we would approach 100,000 cases a day shortly. And people jumped on him for being alarmist.

And we all remember how great last winter was, right?

The whole country was praying for a vaccine that a significant portion of the population would decide to refuse to take - leading us to ? August 2, 2021.

Human capacity to accept and adapt to what once seemed intolerable is impressive. We're all just frogs in a hot tub.

Well at least those of us that are fully vaccinated needn't be fearful going out and about.

It's the security knowing healthcare is available if needed to a standard we are accustomed to and also bringing life back to normal socially, economically, education etc. that is the issue.

Just give the a-holes a bucket to cough into and put them in isolation to fight it out themselves as they always intended to anyway. Intervene to prevent catastrophic outcomes but at the capacity realistically possible based on a preventable flood of other cases to treat.

You know, make America India again.

Do you know anything about your neighbour to the north at all? I'm guessing you couldn't care less, as if isolationism is a realistic option in 2021.

And if you were an English-speaking Chilean or Brazilian or Indian or Japanese or whatever on this board I would speak to them just the same. Do you want to keep the borders sealed off forever? Be prepared to watch the economy crumble over time if so.

PS- if my conduct on the other thread was contributory to it being shut down, I sincerely apologize to everyone. It is not my intent to attack people personally but I simply cannot accept failure in extinguishing this pandemic and perhaps my passion shows.

Then there are people here that are unable to express kindness or compassion as demonstrated by their callous comments regards to the death of a loved one someone experienced.

A study of particular interest to those of us living in wild fire country in the US and Canada suggests that there's a link between air quality with a dominant pollutant of PM2.5 and a 17.7% spike in SARS-CoV-2 positive test rates in the Reno area during the 2020 fire season.

I live in a wild fire area. The main and supplemental HEPA filters around the house usually last several months during the winter but clogged after a few weeks the past two summers and that's with the windows closed. If the study is accurate and you use home HVAC filters, this is the time to stock up, they sell out quickly everywhere.

I couldn't care less about your behavior on the other thread. You know a lot less than you think you do.

If Toyota didn't have to give the Japanese aftermarket suppliers so much lead time to develop warranty voiding garbage we'd have more to talk about

You sound like an angry person.

Assuming your patients are all vaccinated I suppose the risk to you is minimal so, maybe I overreacted. It wouldn't really matter if it was a breathing therapy or some other therapy unrelated.

Keep in mind it is switched around from last year, where you might have been a potential spreader it is now more likely you are a potential victim now with most others fully vaxxed and Delta's characteristics.

I feel no hostility toward you despite you lashing out.

Now that you told us your personal story, I see no reason for you feel hostile toward me. In fact I suspect you are perceiving my semi-hostile attitude toward anti-vaxxerrs to be directed to you, which it isn't.
