If you want to get close to invoice that probably won't happen in Spring, which is when these typically sell better, depending on where you live. More than likely it would be towards the end of the model year for that.

At least historically, but with COVID still impacting sales/availability who knows...

No markups in local Seattle dealerships. I was able to get corporate pricing with no hassle.

If a person does not have stock, they have no bargaining power. It might take some irritating footwork, but you can definitely play 3-4 dealers against one another.

An ordered car vs a stocked car is really really different. Mini Cooper has not bothered to lie and say they have to charge more than MSRP, as they are almost all ordered cars for the level and particulars people like us want.

These are all ordered cars, there is no sense of auction, or holding out to get another $1000 of pure profit.

Dealerships are Vending Machines. They offer us nothing aside from the object dispensed at the price we want.

I have no freaking idea what you are talking about. Assuming buyer is not afraid of negotiating and moderately skilled, has multiple options for procuring a suitable car (much easier these days than it was in the past) and does not become emotionally attached to any particular option, supply vs demand is the only significant factor in determining final price.

only morons pay MSRP

but real morons pay MSRP who also order a car from a vending machine , aka car dealer

supply vs demand does not exist if you ORDER a car. there is no supply, it's a request, economics are never involved.

I guess call me a moron. I'll pay MSRP if I can get the EXACT car I want. Besides, if we did manage to switch away from the "vending machine model" as you call it, and direct order the car, that is exactly what we would end up with, a no haggle take it or leave it, MRP (dropping the suggested). It may not be a penny different than MSRP.

This, in essence, is the Tesla/Carvana model.

Agreed. My time is valuable. If I can spend an hour at the dealer ordering my car and then another hour 8-12 weeks later to pick it up and sign papers, I’ll take that over spending all day trying to negotiate $400 on a 30k purchase. I’d rather go to work at that point lol.

Don't make MSRP your goal...invoice price + $500 should be the target

aww well you probably are not a moron. I was rebutting strange statements made on here. I want people on here to fight back against the asshats who desire to use the Plandemic to make tons of cash without any economic reason for it.

One can order and still pay less than MSRP

I am talking 500 dollars less even. I mean, just give us something to make people not feel reamed in the butt

So far I have you saying anyone who drives around with unsecured items in their backseat is taking their life in their hands and is a moron. You also are saying that anyone who pays MSRP for their car (which is pretty much EVERYONE who is ordering a BRZ right now) is a moron as well. In doing so, you have proved you don't know SQUAT about economics.

You have said one thing I agree with - there is definitely an asshat in this forum and he has posted a ton in this thread.

I have a lot of money. 500-1000 saved is why i have a lot of money. And unless you earn $2000/hr as a job, that's a lot of time out of one's life giving it to another, those work hours.

No new car deal cannot be reduced 1000 dollars from MSRP concerning cars $30k or more dollars espcially.

Walk in, show a paper with price
tell them today this is it or i walk, dont talk
sign
save 1000 for 3-8 minutes of time
