Do you think the Edlebrock would be better than something like a Rotrex? Having come from a high compression v8 platform that had a ton of torque to this car was refreshing for autox because of the ability to control the car because it had so much less torque.

my knee is better now but it still costed me over 2 grand to figure out i didnt need it reconstructed.

but from what i read they both have the same high end but the edlebrock has better low end. im sure a tuner or mike could give you an actual answer

Good to know about the SC. I have interest in it eventually so I'll do more research when I get closer.

I think the point they are making is that the amount of seat time they have committed is what makes them better drivers and not the cars themselves. While I'm not much of a fan of that particular point in that it's just making someone look silly just because you can, I also understand that there are those people that think they will be great because they have a powerful car.

I'm also sure that you are asking facetious questions.
We kind of ran into the same thing in our region when we created an STM class a few years back. It was kind of ugly in that the primary people that pushed for the class had a history of publicly saying a lot of disparaging things about the performance and skillset of people in Street and Street Touring.

So yeah, it was fun to beat a lot of those folks and their anything goes cars head to head in an STS or a CS prepped car.

I had the same thought with my STX car. If I see XS fields at locals and the "pro" class doesn't look appealing to me, I'd run it. I've meant to check and see where I am at weight with a full tank of fuel and the spare tire in the car.

I think our region has done a good job of people staying in the class where they feel they have the most competition. We have a "pro" class that is indexed where most of our best drivers just run head to head based on the index of the class their car fits in so that generally helps with people jumping to the more open classes like XS just to prove a point. We have a couple of people that run in XS because they were running in SMF before and XS is a friendlier index to them and they didn't run slicks anyway. They now have more competition than before and everyone is happy.

We have a new site this year with better pavement so maybe we'll see more participation in XS.

Yeah, I'd only switch because it lets me tinker with the car, not to try to build to the limits. Though I could see getting there.

Coilovers drop a few lbs, so does header/exhaust, and if you've gotten around to a lighter battery. Heaviest I've weighed my car for STX has been ~2650 with a half tank of gas and the stock catback, I'd need to ballast up to XSA even with the spare tire (26), tools(6), putting the OE battery(15) and header(5) back in along with a full tank of gas (30). Supercharger + extra cooling (+50#?) would get it over 2750# but I'd have to keep the tank above 3/4 I think since idk why I'd waste money on a heavier battery.

If I ever get a bunch of money burning a hole in my pocket and nothing else to spend it on a street legal Harrop setup and/or a set of Hoosiers is high on the list.
