Why do you hope that?

In Sydney at least, the price varies from $400 - $600.

Other places like Perth charge quite a bit more purely because they apply more than one coat of protection. The benefits of this are yet to be proven, but opti coat is an expensive product hence the increased cost based on number of coats.

It's exactly that.

I'm sure you've heard everyone say "Paint protection is a scam" etc etc. It's only a scam if you get it from the dealer. They use inferior products and charge you double/triple/as much as they can for what it's worth. Opti-coat is probably the best one out right now and it can be done at a great price privately.

Got it on my car. Shit is great man. I wash it once every two weeks but really it doesn't even need it that often.

When I bought my current ride, I was offered the usual add-ons, inc. paint protection. I asked the dealer if he could GUARANTEE IN WRITING that it would do everything he claimed it would.

He refused.

Couple this incident with everything else you hear about PP and you don't have much faith in the product.

Having said that, if most of the peeps on this forum are happy with it, all good. I guess only time will tell if it is worth the investment. Time, and a pigeon with serious diarrhea...

Had a problem with bat shit a week back. Just got out a microfibre cloth and some bug/crap remover and wiped it off pretty easy. It was easier to get off the paint than the glass.
