People can whine about "purity of driving" all they want but after having the system in the wife's Impreza and Outlander at least the blind spot and cruise are pretty sweet and I wouldn't mind having them at all. The lane control is however intrusive if fully on and annoy as hell if just the alarm and I want nothing to do with it. Can live without the emergency braking aspect as well.
I've had some of the new Forsters/outbacks/Imprezas as loaners and I'm not a fan of any of it, it's much to intrusive for my liking. The cars themselves are quite nice though.

Well the cruise isn't intrusive since you have to turn it on every time. The blind spot is just a little light and impacts your driving in no way at all. Never had the stop future activated by anything and if you only have the lane control warning turned on (not sure you can turn it off) and not the actual steering it doesn't do anything either. None of it really impacts the driving of the car in any way.

Hope they are developing a system to keep those moronic drivers out of the left lane. That would go a long way to decrease road rage and keep traffic flowing.

Generations ago? LOL
In the U.S.:
Outback/Legacy lost the MT in 2015 due to MPG regulations and Eyesight compatibility.
Forester lost the MT in 2019 also due to MPG regulations and Eyesight compatibility.
Impreza, Crosstrek, WRX, STI & BRZ all still offer MT although only in base trims on the Impreza & Crosstrek. Also, none of the MT's get Eyesight.

In Canada:
Outback/Legacy lost the MT in 2015
Forester lost the MT in 2019
Impreza, Crosstrek, WRX, STI & BRZ all still offer MT. In Canada however, it is available on several different trim levels, but still, none of the MT's get Eyesight.

In Japan, Eyesight has been available since 2010...but only on AT & CVT vehicles.

Per Subaru's own info:
"EyeSight is a driver-assist system that may not operate optimally under all driving conditions. The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as vehicle maintenance, weather and road conditions. See owner’s manual for complete details on system operation and limitations. Requires automatic transmission."

Again, we can literally see it on the test cars.

But thanks for the other info, I didn't realize they were still offering those on the base models since I hadn't seen a manual forester/legacy/outback in person since ~2010 so my bad there. I've been looking for a manual xt and I have to go back to 08 for that which is why I didn't think they had been offered at all.

I'm not a fan of the sensors and notifications or the stop start tech they added. The lane departure drove me nuts, and while you could "turn it off" I felt like it was still functioning, I had the brakes kick on few times unexpectedly when there was absolutely no reason for it. But I also live in the northeast where left lane hogs are abundant so I have to move around.

You’re wrong. Shut up and eat some gluten free cookies. I know you have some on the counter.

And guys remember, Toyota might want to use TSS 2.0 on the 86? Which from my experience works really really well. I’m not sure if that is possible on the 86 to have TSS though. All of that might be programmed in the ECU.

It's all well and good until your car causes you to be the next Reginald Denny.
