I have a feeling the Z Proto is 97 to 99% production ready. It doesn't look like a crazy concept car with a fake interior, fake exterior and fake underpinnings.

I sorta hope reviews aren’t stellar about power and handling. I don’t really want to trade my my car for this.

I don’t think they will be because this is largely a reskinned 370Z with a new motor. I’m in the same boat. I don’t like swapping cars. I’m more monogamous, even if I might look around and like what I see. I’m even considering a FA24 swap on my current car for the future or getting a prestine 2020 model in the future. Maybe get a 2nd gen if the aftermarket can fix a few things. Porsche is up there, but if this is good then that could throw a wrinkle in things. Weight will still influence things a lot, but if they pull off some magic then I could switch platforms.

As much as I like my current BRZ, and it would be a double-edged sword (especially financially) to be tempted by the 400Z, I'm looking forward to test driving it. Preferably several long test drives, back-to-back with the 2nd gen BRZ. I hope the reviews on the 400Z aren't extraordinarily stellar so the demand won't be through the roof, so there might be a tiny little chance of buying one for a reasonable price from sleazy Nissan dealers without having to battle with lots of other buyers and the inevitable insane ADM's dealers are going to slap on the car. |

I would do it for Mazda to release a new Speed 3 series. Seeing how much they have improved their interiors and their engines. I always wanted a Speed 3. Messed up by getting a regular 3 with a 2.0 engine. It was a fun little car and handled like a dream.

Perhaps, but he is right. It is about how it makes you feel. Gotta test drive all the options. If everyone listened to the reviews then they would avoid the 86 for lack of power or be getting a Miata or whatever.
