They're similar on purpose. The FRS is meant to be the stripper model.

Problem is these are selling like hell. They are not going to add costs and make major changes when they have no issues selling the car.

They quietly released the FB2x engines before making an announcement nearly a year later; basically a test drive for the platform before they committed to it. I imagine this would be similar if they intended on using that boosted engine in any other car. That particular engine revs low as hell though, so if EVER there was a turbo destined for this car it would probably be a worked over version of that engine.

AWD would make the BRZ too heavy. Rear wheel drive cars are funner and handle better. This isn't meant to be an AWD car. What the hell is the obsession with AWD? Understeering pigs.

If there was an STI version, it would probably go at around $35k

as long as were making generalizations, lets talk about how the macphersons and suboptimal weight distribution make the frs an understeering pig. ferarri has an awd system that weighs like 80 lbs. im not saying that i want awd since i absolutely dont, im just saying that what youre saying is that youre overreacting

I hope it comes out next year. I expect 240-250 hp if it remains N/A. Maybe 270-290 if it has FI.

Yeah, there's no way they can put it in with the turbo down on the bottom of the engine like that, it just won't fit in the BRZ chassis. They might eventually make a turbo BRZ (I strongly doubt it) but if they do, it definitely will NOT be using the current turbo'd FA that will be in the JDM Legacy/next gen WRX.

BRZ/86 have been such a huge success because of 1.) RWD, 2.) Affordability 3.) Handling...... If the BRZ had came out AWD for an extra maybe $2000-$4000 it would have had sold half as many as now.......

Cant u understand that?.........

FI will come, its inevitable........

Since this is basically a speculation thread I'll throw in m2c. I'm expecting another sti concept in December with a close to production model example in January. If it's what I'm hoping for then my dealer is gonna get another deposit for a spot in line, if not then I'll start looking at performance mods for the car I already have.

If there is demand, there will be supply. Toyota saying there wont be Factory FI of the FRS to the US market, but the TRD Options will be there for following reasons

1/ adds on to the Existed FRS anytime
2/ insurance purposes
3/ warranty purposes

Now if Subaru is not going FI, it will fall behind. If it keeps the same BRZ now for the STI, it would be too expensive, and other Existed BRZ can not be upgraded to FI version. Therefore, it will disappoint many owners. My guess

1/ STI with different engine and FI

2/ STI adds on option, the same as FRS.

It will be coming to the market when the demands reach it peak. 2015. next year will be too fast to review the demand for this new platform. 2015 is the most reasonable one.
