Despite the good pictures in Post #177, I'm still not sure what you are spraying.

Are you spray lube on a weld? (That can't be right.)

Two circled spot are where two pieces of sheet metal overlay each other. There's no weld there. Spray there.

As dsgerbc already mentioned above, it is to spray lube there. Those 2 spots are like pockets. I sprayed WD-40 inside there until it starts to drip a few. I recommend placing a card board on the trunk mat, so it won't dirty the carpet.

Quick and easy fix. Might be just a temporary fix, but it only takes a minute to do.

The two circled spots in the picture above, there is something that is like a pocket. Spray some type of silicone lube spray in those pockets. I used WD-40. I sprayed until it started to drip. I recommend placing something on the trunk carpet (i.e. card board) right underneath so you won't dirty it.

While I don't have this noise...at least I don't hear it with my crappy ears. I was thinking instead of WD-40 why not some type of motorcycle chain lube?

This type of lube goes on thin and will wick into small area's and then it sets up to a thicker state.

Might last longer and won't drip after it sets up.

So much information I found in the past 24 hours. I found a post on a message board in the official Toyota website in Japan (toyota.jp) that explains what the dealer did to fix this issue for that poster. It is to expand the spacing of the two pockets circled in the picture I posted in my previous post. So, if it ever makes the noise again, that probably is what I can do to permanently fix it. I'll probably start with sticking in some padding instead before I bend them to expand.

If anyone's interested, the message board is HERE and the post that I'm talking about is posted by "Club 86" on 2012/09/17 at 23:02.

Thanks for the info. I don't know much about lubing. WD-40 is the only thing I knew. I should look into that.

Updated the first post. The new picture hopefully is less confusing.

The quick and easy fix is good so far. Not even one pop yet.

So I found a great place to store my putty knife. Went to a local drift event which is roughly 20 mile without a snap crackle or pop.
I will be sourcing some plastic that is roughly the same thickness and will be testing this over the next week or so.
I will update.

I did the flat ended center punch trick on every single weld along the three foot seam and the noise is gone. Yesterday I touched up the marks with the two part touch up paint for my WHP BRZ.

The concept you guys are talking about is cool. Strange. But cool.
