I feel for you OP, I'm recently married and early thirties. I suspect I'll end up parting ways with my 2013 BRZ soon too, too soon, only 44k miles. I was actually considering going to a Tesla 3, wife is saying I should just trade it in at the dealership for a Crosstrek.

I have a rear facing seat in mine and I find it it rather easy to drop the seat on the base. I have 5 kids though so I can only really take my car if it’s just me, my wife and our new baby. If anyone else has to ride then we take the Suburban. If you have to drive your parents, baby and wife all at the same time then you have a dilemma. I’m fairly surprised how easy it is to get the seat on the base though. I expected to have to hold it at the perfect angle to fit through the door opening and behind the seat but you literally drop it right in there. In addition to that you can drop a Bobs SUV jogger in the trunk as long as you take the wheels off (which is easy). Our normal stroller also fits but without taking the wheels off.

Sell twin, buy fun car with lots of space, 2 adults, 2.5 kids.

Once you start breeding it could go on for a while.

Breeding is expensive.

Sports cars are a luxury for a young family.

If you are already financially solid then buy racecar.

Feel for you man. Although getting a bigger car doesn't always mean less fun! Sounds like WRX the best fit. I'd also throw in the new Corolla Hatchback, Stinger, maybe a used Q70 Chevy SS too. Lots of cool cars with enough space for your growing family. Congratulations though and hey maybe you can get back in a twin sometime in the future. Good luck

My advice would be to embrace the "family truckster" genre of vehicle, whatever that means to you. If you try to find something that gives you the handling and driving satisfaction of a twin but larger, you'll end up with something that's still smaller than you'll eventually wish you had when you take extended family trips, and something that still doesn't give you the driving satisfaction you crave when it's not loaded up. It'll be the worst of both worlds, instead of the best. We had three kids within five years of each other and did a lot of car/tent camping, so we always had a van/minivan (Ford E150, Ford Aerostar) or biggish SUV ('93 Range Rover County LWB, Mercedes ML430) for the "crew," and a smaller more economical and fun car for a commuter and solitary driver. HIGHLY recommended.. best of both worlds. Drive the biggie when you have to, and the small fun car all the other times. I grew to love all of our vehicles simply because they were the right vehicle for the job at hand, without compromise

If you can deal with the looks, Civic Type R.

Someone I know went from a heavily modified Monogram to the CTR and swears it is better in every way -- he claims its a mini GT-R w/o any of the FWD feeling.

Too bad there are so few RWD sedans with manuals these days. When I first decided it was time to get a sedan I had this criteria:
RWD
Manual
Japanese
LSD

That left 1 option: IS300

Turned out owning a sedan wasn’t the end of the world after all. Today I couldn’t meet that criteria. I also owned a G35 6MT. Not anywhere near as fun.

Cars are getting really lame these days.

Very different (I'd almost say completely opposite) from the twins obviously, but entertaining in it's own way.

And there's also the Subaru legacy.

Edit: Also, Golf Sportwagen and Alltrack if you don't mind a longer hatchback/short wagon.
That Buick would be my top choice. I've seen these pretty much loaded and AWD at impressively low prices. Look for an '18 leftover that a dealer is tired of looking at on his lot. I know a few people that got them and rave about them.

Dude, OP, trust me when I say get a hatch or wagon not a sedan. That one time that you need to change diapers, and it's raining, you'll appreciate having a dry flat spot to lay things out and get it done. That one time... Toss the stroller in, toss this and that and a few more things in. You have no idea how much stuff you're going to be taking with you in the very near future. Get a hatch

@ermax - Leave out the Japanese requirement and you could open up to a multitude of great cars that would outperform most things on the road today.

CTS-V, G8 GXP, Chevy SS.... I know I'm showing bias, but to get a manual sedan that's RWD leaves you with those or German cars, lol.

A lot of people in this thread didn't even notice the OP wants an AWD car it seems like! I know he is asking specifically about a sedan but the whole crossover / hatch thing is incredibly useful for the kiddos. I had a Subaru Forester and it was the best vehicle.... just great at so many things.
