r/c is a great way to own a car without all the hassle! the orange made me seriously consider an fr-s over a brz. but i like the front end of the brz better. but i still got my metallic paint ![]() back to r/c, i own the last two 2000 mitsubishi eclipse bodies in existence for similar reasons. i could never bring myself to paint either due to the rarity though. i've also got a brz body that i did paint, because they're plenty prevalent enough to screw up a couple. ![]() some words of warning about the paint. all metallic/candy colors(official cars and tamyia's color spectrum) are opaque. the color and appearance of the paint is dependent on the thickness of the metallic color, as well as the color that goes behind it. a black backing paint will make it look dark, a white will make it more vibrant. other colors can also offer other ways to make for a more vibrant orange as well. one that i know of offhand was demonstrated on a 2fast2furious extra, where they modified a Lancer with all the typical paint and wheels of the 2000's. they painted it candy apple red, but the under layer was a bright green. that base layer set the stage to make the candy apple 'pop' in depth and color. experiment, have fun, and remember, it's only a $20, easily replaceable car body, that usually takes no more than a weekend to paint!

It is a very similar story again. Everytime I see a thread like this the other car is picked. I didn't cross shop and I never regretted. I hope OP enjoys the Miata. That is a roadster and not really comparable with a BRZ/86 though. Twins are 2+2 sports cars with so much more daily driving practicality. I can carry 4 extra wheels or my road bike or two/three kids when needed ... or just enjoy driving. Twins are like the best of Miata and GTI mixed in one better looking package than both.

It is now a little too personal opinion but I agree with you there. I still enjoy looking at a twin after so many years.

Congrats OP on your new car! You made the right choice! It is is easier and cheaper to upgrade the MX-5's suspension with aftermarket coilovers to get rid of the body roll than swapping an MX-5's engine to the brz to get rid of the torque dip on top of getting rid of 500lbs and cutting the roof to make the brz feel like the MX-5.

I thought you would have got more of a reaction. Have to see what responses you get during the week. I thought it was brilliant.
