John, I'd also be interested if you get an opportunity to discover precisely what the auto's sports mode button does.

Umm, this is one of the easiest cars I've worked on.... the only hard parts are injectors, spark plugs, and cams. :-p

Dollar for HP gained with an ECU tune is obviously much different for a turbo engine, but damn I can't believe the price of 18hp naturally aspirated from EcuTek. For what you get, $900 is crazy expensive, even when you break it down.
APR's Tunes for the VW 2.0T is just an increase in boost pressure and some slight tweaking of throttle timing to match. That's how you get that huge jump. The OEM diverter valve keeps boost at 11psi (15 psi peak), Stage 1 is 15psi (18psi peak). On the FRS/BRZ, there is no turbo to add more pressure, so there isn't a free source of power right there, the tuning is different. I owned a GTI until it got totaled.

And yes, VW shares the 2.0t across nearly every car they make.

And yes, I'm fully aware that I revived an old complaint. It happens. Apologies.

John, do you think there's anything to be gained from reexamining the datalogs/tune if we have a full exhaust and intake? I'll have an SRT headerback in the next few weeks, plus the Injen intake.

I now have on my car ap full header back exhaust and e85 tune. When John comes back we'll put it back on the dyno and see how she does. The car feels fantastic right now btw.

all SPORT does on the auto is it makes the transmission select and hold gears for you in "D" when driving spiritedly, under hard braking it downshifts for you so you are always in the right power gear, great for casual track use

the other thing it does

VCS sport allows you to get the tail out

VSC sport AND SPORT activated at the same time in "M" mode allows an even greater angle before intervention

i have played around with this a lot lol... my brake fluid is pretty dark ATM....
