What's your status with PayPal at the moment as far as refund goes ?

EDIT: The biggest problem that I can see with the whole group buy is for anyone that bought back in Aug or earlier. You only have 45 days to open a dispute at PayPal. This should make anyone nervous if they have not recieved their cables as of yet, me being one of them

A simple tracking number could have solved alot of issues for those waiting for their cables

Get over the fact I am working with perrin, who seems to be a far more refined organization, not a one man show, and a history of being a asset to the subaru community
Visconti will have a short run, watch. Perrin is tuning for my altitude, and my car, not selling me some generic. There is a reason i want my money back, John is busy taking money from GTRs and hasnt any intention of serving me or my needs as a recreational track toy builder. Its his stg1 tune as he has it and thats it. hes too small, too myopic to grow into anything bigger than the clown act he has going.

My car runs awesome on the Perrin tune, and I'm ready to give them my money, not for the parts or the tune, but the relationship, follow up, and yes, service with a smile.

John seems to be gloating that my car had a issue. Big fucking deal, I wouldnt have signed on as a tester if I was gonna go cry. You dont hear me crying about perrin or ecutek, or my car being fucked up, whats fucked up is John Visconti's customer policy, refund policy and people skillz.
Thanks for documenting this. A little to personal, but I understand given the way Visconti treats his customers at times. It sounds to me like you've got a legitimate gripe beyond just people who are complaining about not having there tune yet.

Even though I have my cable and tune (no updates since v1.00) I'm concerned about the apparent lack of organization from Visconti, and the way he treats his customers. I know I'm not the only one who is worried about how to get a response from John without risking his wrath, or the ridicule of all his fanboys on here.

I'm happy with my tune, but if I decide to spend anymore money it will be with a tuner who has a better model for supporting their customers.

That sucks Gem and i feel bad that you had to make it public but it seems that unfortunately that may be the only way to get it resolved. I paid on the group buy around 8/18 and have a cable, still waiting for a tune like a lot of people due to the ecutek issues and can't say i haven't thought about asking for a refund myself. I got my cable in about a week ago and assumed it would be ready to tune. There was no update posted here until after the fact that cables were going out with no tunes.

I paid 8/20 and have no cable, but gotta tune via email, with a follow up email stating not to flash until existing issues were rectified

EDIT: I know of one other group buy member who lives 30mins away who also has his cable, but no tune

Just got a EcuTek software / patch fix a few minutes ago.

I'm here in Cali so I'm not able to test it out ;(

Once I can confirm it works like it should I will pump it out.

OH and this update will let me do pump/e85 ON-THE-FLY.

<-- Happy right now.

I'm happy you posted this because I had planned on doing it myself.

This is all very simple everyone.

He was part of the group by ... in fact I let him join the group buy LATE. I dont remember why I did, but I think I had a good reason.

Anyways he approached me again as I was preparing to ship everything.

During first contact I was under the impression he wanted a refund.

But after listening to him on the phone what he really wanted now was just my e85 and pumpgas tune.

So I told him , well I have cables but they won't be ready to ship out for a week... he said he couldn't wait and was just going to buy it from Perrin Performance - which was and is 100% fine by me.

He asked me if I could refund him the difference between my two tunes and his group buy purchase - which was $25. So I changed his order from a discounted PROECU Kit + STG1 Pumpgas Tune --> a pump/e85 tune..sent him his $25 refund via paypal. This was done right of way.

I told him that I was working on a update (pumpgas / e85 map switching among other things) and when it was ready i would send it to him. He said fine.

He asked me several times when the update was going to be ready and I tried to give him a good idea when it was going to be done, but he was putting the pressure on me. Putting the pressure on me isn't going to make me work any harder than I have been these past few months.

Anyways now that his ECU is locked up from another vendors tune he wants a refund from me. He states he has to buy a new ecu and need the money for that.

The ECU doesn't need to be replaced but it's his money it's not my business what he would do with it.

Look I'm a reasonably guy -

I just don't like be harassed and lied to.

I've already made arrangements to change his order once and the only reason he didn't have a flash from me is because it wasn't ready. He knew this from the beginning ! Nothing on my end has changed. Him being impatient doesn't make him entitled to a refund.

It was my choice to ship out the cables the way I did - and not tell anyone.

Posting about it would only cause useless emails and PMS about it..

I dont need any extra work

So anyways it was make you guys wait two more weeks for the flash drives that went on back order to come in or ship them out with out tunes.

But when I shipped the cables this time I had everyone's tunes already prepared - just needed to be emailed.

At this point (because of the ecutek issue) it wouldn't have mattered too much just waiting for the flash drives to come in.

I can't control everything...

So if you have a cable and no tune, be happy - you could have a dead car in the driveway...

-John

I'm actually having this same exact issue, but probably worse. I have to crank the ignition 5 times (53F today). Again, once the car is on and warmed up.. It runs perfectly.

Yep... We have the two halves of the Shazam ring but no way to unite them for our gains. Once it arrives tho, it will be great

GFYS Visconti.

You are keeping my money against my wishes. You have shipped nothing, and ecutek doesnt have a flashable fix so you have nothing to ship.
You say youre gonna ship me a flash drive to get out of the paypal claim? Their investigator is watching this very thread...LOL

I do not want or need a cable from you. Simple.

I am not ready for your tune file and want my money back. what part of that do you not understand, sir?

you know my ecu crashed, stop gloating over it, trying to make other vendors look bad. They dont do that to you and its very unbecoming, says oodles about you Visconti

Perrin has taken stellar car of me as has ECUtek, and I rather deal with those companies than your one man circus act, constantly being sent voicemail and attitude like youre doing me a favor,
youre too cheap to hire staff to improve your customers exeprience
youre lacking in the ability to grow your business and have effectively lost an opportunity to this community who you are quickly alienating
you set expectations you do not keep

youre overwhelmed and need a management company to come and help you run your business cause its clear you cant
tuning a car makes you a tuner

you are an ass for not refunding me
this makes you a shitty vendor to work with in the longer term

GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK JOHN, your posts do not equate to a refund

I already spoke to PayPal.

They told me what I need to do - so I'm doing it.

Thanks for posting this up about this again - never responded to it.

yes e85 isn't going to start well in the cold.

I have a updated e85 map I'm working on that will fix cold startups.

Paypal suggested to me to file a "item not as described claim" when I get your flash drive so youre wasting time and postage you wont recover.

Using your customers as your test base. shame on you.

DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD TO PAY VISCONTI

HE WAITS 45 DAYS FOR EVERY ORDER ACCORDING TO PAYPAL, SO HE TRIES TO SNUB THEIR POLICY, AND THEY KNOW IT

THEY EXTENDED MY CLAIM PERIOD BEYOND 45 GIVEN JOHN'S CLAIM HISTORY

DOESNT THAT SAY ENOUGH?????

POST WHAT YOU WANT JOHN. I GET MY MONEY BACK 10/14/12, THRU PAYPAL.
/I'm done here, and you're now on my ignore list. You suck, youre tunes are worth shit with no support.

I feel bad for those of you waiting beyond 45 days. John playing you against paypal refund policy like he tried with me. dont fall for all his citings of delay.
They are for his own benefit not yours....

...

looking fwd to the rat bastards feeble attempt at reply

I've only have had 3 claims, two are from you.
One for the deposit and the other for the balance.

You stating incorrect info isn't going to make me do anything differently on my end.

Like I said before, I contacted PayPal this morning, they advised me on what to do. Gave me 3 options.

Proof of shipment
Proof of refund
or
Refund.

PayPal told me I could not email you a tune, that I had to ship it with signature. So now I will do as they said.

I thought you were done here. So..then why are you waiting for his reply? Just saying, I understand you are upset but most of the time you just come across as an impatient asshole. John responded several times stating that the tune wasnt ready for various reasons (no thumb drives, no cables, tune causing issues with the ECU). Also, you got into a group purchase on a pre-order for the tune, and from the sound of it got into it late, after it had closed. And he said he was talking to Paypal concerning processing your refund, so I really dont know what your big problem is.

Sorry for your issues and thanks for voicing your opinions, but now that you are "done here", stop flaming the guy and just go away.

I don't know who to believe here, but why exactly aren't you willing to just give him a refund? It sounds like neither of you want to do business with each other at this point.
