Hmm, interesting thought on headliner modification. Never thought of that.

When I removed my headliner, I removed the passenger seat first. (it really helps)
Then removed all the trim pieces on the pillars. Remove the sunvisors. Carefully unplug the dome light. Then carefully take out the fragile headliner.

@Leonardo got you. The only thing I found difficult was removing the small clips that the sun visor clips into. I mangled them but replacements are cheap. I removed both seats when I did mine. They can be very difficult too. You should read up on that as well.
