This is what it would look like if it followed the lines from the emblem, methinks.

I prefer a bit wider scoop, raised a tiny bit off the regular hood line.

The scoop on the prototype was less than 1/2" higher than the fender flares on the stock hood, for reference.

How come "Direct cool air to the top mount intercooler," is not an option in the poll? Isn't that why all the WRXs have the hood scoop?

Yeah, meanwhile the rest of us will buy the forced induction version.

... on a more serious note, I think vents would be more productive than a scoop if you want some holes in your hood.

I could see it now! Buys a FR-S or BRZ turbo kit, installs FMIC... buys hood scoop!

Right?!

All the hood-scoop does is raise under-hood pressure, minimizing cooling efficiency of the radiator (and FMIC).

And, you don't cool water-cooled engines by blowing air on them...

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to these things, but I think they're just trying to decide whether to route more air to the intake/air box area or vent some of the hotter engine compartment air into the atmosphere.

The 'inner' on the hood can have ports/channels that will route the air to the radiator/FMIC area. They're trying to decide what will work best, as far as I know. I honestly don't know what functional application it will have; I'll leave that to more experienced and knowledgeable heads than mine.

Honestly, it's probably mostly for looks with a slight bit of function, but I could be wrong.

i dont understand why people are voting so heavy for venting to the left and right of the motor when this motor doesn't even run that hot, now if it was FI'd i would like that option to direct to the turbo and mani for cooling but otherwise i don't see how it would be beneficial?

Just got an email update from RKsport. They are currently planning to do a second hood design after SEMA, as well as offer a carbon fiber option.

I mentioned that many people are interested in a vented (rather than a scoop) option. Can't wait to see what they come up with.

The RK hood looks great, and I look forward to more offering from RKSport. Also, RKSport was a great company to work with when I had my last Z28.

They could solve that problem by making bolt on under panels that routed the air to different areas. Example: No panel dumps the air into the engine bay right in front of the AP Turbo air filter location. Bolt on under panel #1 routes the air to the area of the stock intake box. Under panel #2 routes the air to a location to the right or left of the engine bay where it could tie into a side mounted air intake. Options are good.

So will most body kits, huge wheels and tires, BFWs, tow hooks, etc. But when does that stop anyone? LOL
