Only a 20mm drop with my springs so I don't scrape the diffuser anywhere normally but when I was loaded to the brim last Friday with tools, HF jack, jack stands, stanley fat max compressor/jump box, a full tank plus 10 gallons of E85 and other misc crap I scraped it on a steep angled gas station exit to the main road. Do you have yours lowered all the way to fit your exhaust?

Yeah mine is lowered all the way and has 1.5" standoffs on the ends to clear the big Greddy Evo3 cans. I knew it would probably scrape.

Well the bright side is you can easily bend the fins back and just spray plasti dip or black spray paint on any bad scrapes and it'll look good as new. Despite the clearance issues you may sometimes have in your case of having low suspension and having to lower the diffuser all the way and then some, it's still better aesthetically than a giant picnic table wing for a dual-purpose street car IMO. Just like driving on uneven pavement with a front splitter installed, your entry angle is critical to not scraping. I'm sure you'll become an expert at backing out of driveways soon enough.

I am already an expert. As an expert, I told my parents I won't be driving my BRZ to their house any longer. I took the best angle possible and still damaged it. A non expert would have probably ripped it completely off the car.

Today was a perfect day for a mountain run in beautiful North Georgia.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed driving windows-down through the twisties around Blood Mountain and on up to Brasstown Bald.

At 4783 feet above sea level, it's the highest point in Georgia with Tennessee and North & South Carolina in plain view from the summit lookout. On a clear day, it is possible to see the tall buildings of Atlanta. It was 35 degrees and sunny at the summit late this morning with small patches of ice melting from some winter weather a couple days ago. The air up there is so fresh and crisp, I love it.

Spotted a bunch of other cool cars up there including a Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari F430, C7 Vette, Viper, multiple Lotus Elises, but no other 86's!

Forgot about this one

One of the few times I've been able to photograph the "silica" in the paint.

Requires strong sunlight and just the right angle.

Awesome pics. Nothing like mountain driving. Can't wait to go back up there come April and May.

Thanks! We should get the SE86 club together and plan a drive up to the Tail of the Dragon or somewhere fun like that. I haven't been up to Deals Gap in several years and have been wanting to.

That's exactly where I go come April. lol.

I previously owned an R32 and there is a huge R32 (and now Golf R) gathering every April at the Dragon, "Wookies in the Woods". I've gone for the past two years and even though I've changed cars, a bunch of the guys I've become pretty good friends with insist I still go this year. lol. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

The event itself has opened itself up to GTI's, a few Audi S lines/tt's, Porsche's, etc. With that being said, I was tempted to ask a few local 86 buddies if they wanted to come up with as it drew closer. If you're free the first weekend of April 2014 and want to come up, drive some amazing roads and meet some of the coolest enthusiasts I know, well, let me know. Obviously not trying to crash their weekend with a ton of other 86's but bringing along a few buddies won't hurt. lol.

I'll be in North Georgia (are you familiar with Helen, GA?) come May for another euro show and there are some mountain roads up there we rip on every year as well.

Needless to say, I can't wait to drive those roads in this car.

I don't think there is an official 86 meet at the dragon that takes place, yet. I do remember reading about something like it in the Southeast section. Set something up, you never know. I cant guarantee I will be able to attend as I'm pretty much booked this coming year as far as trips go but have no problem giving you some help or if you want to kick some ideas around.

Another pic from my automotive past; my old '89 951.

Taken in February of 2011 in the exact same spot from yesterday.

Nice. Love 951's. A local shop is actually building a 944 track car at the moment. Love the lines on that car.

It's a love/hate relationship with the 44's. They are awesome when they run well but are nightmares when they dont. Preventative maintenance of the timing belt, water pump, and clutch are all critical to enjoying them without going broke. Thankfully tuning tech for the old Bosch motronic DME's has finally come to a point where it's affordable and easy to do a real MAF conversion and no longer have to signal massage with a piggyback, allowing much safer boost above 15psi on pump gas or E85.

The 951 is currently in my Dad's hands getting prepped for sale soon. It needs to pass emissions once more.

Can you post some details on that route for non-GA people? I'd love to go up there next time I'm in ATL.

This is the route I usually take, but there are different ways up there if you want to get creative.

It's a fun trip with plenty of scenery and twisties.
