Would checking your VIN on Toyota's recall section work? Or is that just for safety items like airbags?

Huge difference.

The problem: Subaru says a valve spring fracture in a very small number of vehicles could lead to engine noise, malfunction,

or, in a worst-case scenario, an engine stalling.

How do you find the build date?
VIN only says model year.

So I did the same for both sites yesterday and it stated that there was no recall for my car however I went back to both sites today and it's making an error that doesn't show the results

The build date is shown on the sticker/plaque on the door frame/ sill/casing.

Dale Jr wouldn't worry about a dropped valve. He'd just run her down a cylinder. Subaru's a bunch of worry warts. Lol

The article clearly stated the recall would not be formally announced until Dec and Jan.
