Found a video on YouTube. I’m picturing someone pressing it by hand with the tool but in the video they hit it with a hammer and it sets. So if you can get enough compression in the cylinder then I bet this technique would work. Still can’t avoid taking the cam subassembly off which is were you get into all the packing mess. Maybe they will remove the cam caps without removing the sub assembly first but they would risk warping the head.

It will be interesting to see what their game plan is.

Then yeah, seals. Can’t do a seal without removing the spring so you prove you can do a spring without access to both sides of the head.

I think I'm alright... my car was manufactured 7/13 but the VIN is well outside of the range at 734630. Damn they built a lot of these sum bitches... I'll keep a look out for a recall notice though but the full VIN didn't bring up any open recalls yet.

That guy is due a big refund and an apology from Toyota/Subaru. His activity shows that he has not logged on here for a couple years so he probably no longer has a twin but he definitely has a case anyway because they made him pay for that repair out of his own pocket.

Subaru is looking not so Japanese right now. You expect this shit from europe. My next car will have the valve train on top.

valve spring issue?

Any known one know if I would have any problems with a salvage rebuilt title getting the recall?

I have looked at every value in techstream 3 times in 2 different version. Took like 2 hours. I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but it's not there.

I don't think the VINs are linear. My car is manufactured a month after yours at 08/13 and final 6 is 733602.

My car is not in the recall, but who knows what will happen in the future, the recall could be expanded.

Currently at 142 000 km (Bought at 118 000 km). No problems yet, used Toyota 0W20 and OEM filter it's whole life.

I'm recalling off the top of my head and obviously leaving out a lot of detail. But it's a lot of work.

.
Now what could go wrong there -

Now, THAT (39 years ago) is considered "long term memory" - you are in trouble -

Hells bells - it looks like my FR-S is due to be recalled. -

Maybe I'll just ride it out and if the engine blows, before I do, I'll just do a V-8 swap.

Yep, something simple, something dependable, something I can work on.
