Rear toe in for straight line stability.

There is far more damage here than a "bumper, taillight, and quarter panel" lol

It's a long story... Basically there was a disagreement with the towing company so insurance wouldn't authorize for them to move it to the body shop and they said they were gonna get their own people to move it because it costs to much and blah blah blah. Anyways it took the car 25 days to make its way to the collision center (I'm driving this big stupid Sonata) but now it's there and the estimate is around $7500, so quite a bit less then I thought it would be. Now guess what? I'm waiting for the insurance company to authorize them to start fixing it.......... And yes I've been calling the insurance company pretty frequently

They did decide to finally get it towed and according to the guy at the collision center it was over a $100 difference :/ yet it cost them 3 weeks worth of rental fee while it sat. I'm pretty pissed off about this whole thing but it should be back in my hands next month.

Slight tangent but thought you might be interested. MY13 with 144k miles was valued at about 13k USD by my insurance last May. They paid the $9k repair bill. They were going to total it based on their in house KBB type value, but once they looked at local resale they changed their mind. Can't recall the exact numbers but I hit like 77% and they repaired up to 80% lol. I'll post pics later if anyone is interested.

Not sure how different CA is from Georgia though.

its 7,500 before the car is even apart and a supplement is called in for the additional damages, will it be totaled maybe not but if that rear rail is down and the inner structure is bent it probably will be.

$4k was a great estimate.
$7500 is the crack pipe retail insurance quote.
You can get it done out of pocket
for under $5k with a wad of cash

Did you seriously just suggest your own guess was great when it's barely 1/2 of the actual?

As you said that $7500 is the estimate. The work is not done yet. $10K is not off the table yet.

Correct. The body shop has the green light from insurance to start fixing it so we'll see...

Next time you smack it up we will have to start a pool on the costs. $10 each to get in and 50% to you and the other to the winner.

Do not conflate the bloated insurance quote with the actual cost paid by a retail customer, who is paying with a wad of cash, out of pocket.
Just like medial billing. You think uninsured paying under the table pays the same as the HMO?

$7500 is the inflated book price paid by insurance.
In actuality, you can get that work done out of pocket under the table for under $5000. Or, typically about 60%-70% of retail robo-quotes.

My estimate, $4000, was for paying cash to get it fixed, at a competitive indy shop.
Not the inflated insurance quote, which individuals do not pay in real life.
Others were saying it's totaled, despite book value being at least $15k

That is all fine and dandy except it is an insurance job and the under the table cost is meaningless. Can throw any number you want at it and say "this is what it should be" but that isn't what it is. There is not a hope in hell that any reputable shop in Ontario would touch that job for $4k. Our prices are much higher here and what it would cost in the US means nothing. By the time that is done THROUGH insurance that repair will be much closer to $10,000 Canadian then you seem to believe.
