Can put in either one as long as it is the updated part number. Just contact Toyota and Subaru and find out which part is cheaper. They are identical parts just different numbers for the two different inventory systems.

Just make sure that it has the yellow or white paint dot on it to show it is the new one.

Yes. Take a look at the Subaru TSB under the Part Information section. It tells you where to look.

You took the tranny out and didn't replace the bearing?

No my trans squeaks when I press clutch and I'm taking it out today. I had recall done not too long ago and should've had them replace it but oh well

Ok so I took the slave cylinder off, and while it was off I could move the fork back and forth with no squeak. When I did, I took the boot off and greased the whole pin and put it back in. Now when I press the clutch it still squeaks. I moved the trans by the fork without the cylinder and it didn't squeak, and now with the slave cylinder it still squeaks. Thoughts?

Is it a squeak or a squeal? If a squeak only then you may just need to lube more. If a squeal it is the TOB. The TOB will not squeal when moving things by hand it needs to be spinning.

It's simply a squeak. Also I kind of want to drop trans for peace of mind, I put a solid two finger globs of lube on the wrong side of the fork and would rather drop and clean it up. I never have noise when it runs, just when it's cold and I press the pedal down. The other thing is I put a little Camera into the hole and the TOB looked like it had spots of rust which is concerning

Surface rust on the outside of the bearing are no big deal since moisture can get in there. If the whole thing is uniformly rusty it could be an indication that it is overheating since heat will promote rust.

No just a few spots. Also what do you think of extra grease being in there?
