Suspension mods to even out inside-outside tire wear...

I'd say -3 front -2 rear is kind of a minimum desirable starting point. Camber plates don't move the wheel/tire relative to the strut/spring, so no worries there.

Is reduced travel and rub also a concern with coil overs? Aren't they designed for camber adjustment and aftermarket wheels?

Not so much, and yes. Coilovers probably better way to go depending on class rules.

ProParts Megan Coilovers are the best bang for the buck out there, and they're rebound adjustable only so you can't confuse yourself with settings any more than the SSC Koni's will. They come with everything you need to plug and play. I run them and would not choose anything else out there unless I wanted to spend big money on high quality doubles. Plus, ProParts is not terribly far from you so support would not be a problem.

I wouldn't recommend the SSC kit unless you have specific aspirations for running in SSC.

SSC is a fantastic class and it the cars are quite capable. The car will be fun at BMWCCA events and you'll have close competition at SCCA days. That gets my vote! Say hi at the next BMWCCA event, I'm an instructor down there.

Regarding the tire wear, MORE camber! I'm running -2.5* and it's not enough and my tires are not wearing much better. I'm corner balancing my car and bumping it to -3.5* and going to monitor tire temps and wear on my next set of tires.

Priority now is to get more camber front and back. For the front I need camber plates and coilovers or camber bolts and koni yellows if they allow up to -2.5 just with bolts. I am maxed out on the stock struts at -1.5.

I'd recommend Rocky's Miatomotive for install, he's in Chula Vista. He primarily does Miatas but also works on these cars. For alignment I'd recommend Chassis Masters in Kearny Mesa.
