Wait 3 weeks or 5 days for BRZ

So my local dealership is getting a WRB 6MT Limited on the next allocation for around the 2nd week of August.

I got a call from another dealership that is willing to swap their Red BRZ for a WRB 6MT Limited and could have it this weekend and ready for Monday.

After the long distance drive the dealer will do, the car is going to have around 300 miles. I was told it had not been test-driven at the other dealership.

What would you do? Wait on the car that is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean or jump on the one that will be swapped?

I want the car now but I'm looking for advice as to what is the smart decision to make.

i would see if they could have the car delivered on the truck instead of driving 300 miles, especially since those miles will be driven at a constant rpm (not good for engine break in).

I'll ask but I doubt they will. I'm getting a great deal

  • Wait 5 days, worry that the car had been redlined, raced, abused and molested without your knowledge.
  • Wait 3 weeks, sleep peacefully after getting new car with single digit odometer reading and still wrapped in protective film.

Buy the car you want, (Color, features, etc) and if need be, have them ship it. Having someone else drive your car more than 50 miles to deliver it is unacceptable.

Get which ever color you want the most, don't be impatient and regret your choice. If you get the long distance one, go pick it up and drive it home yourself.

Well both cars are the same color, trim, and transmission.

The salesperson at the dealership that was doing the swap said they found the car "up north." Well I live in Massachusetts and let's say he found it in Maine. That is 181 miles from here. Now, was he just guessing it was a 300 mile trip or does the car already have around 150 miles on it before they pick it up and then he's adding the 180 miles to that number.?

I'm going to call him tomorrow and get the real info on the mileage before the swap. If it's under 50 I'll take it only on the condition I can pick it up. If he can't give me a straight answer then he's not someone I want to do business with. The car to swap was #1675 according to the VIN. My order will be #2183. It seems like that 1675 has been around for awhile and who knows what's been going on with it like multiple washings at the dealership meaning multiple swirls and scratches to say the least in addition to brutal test-drives.

Most likely I will wait for the car I put the deposit on after the feedback you guys have given me and the gutt feeling I have. My 2011 Civic Si literally came off the truck with the wrapping and plastic covers on the wheels. What a good feeling that was knowing I popped it's cherry.

Wait aren't you the guy who had issues buying a BRZ with a different dealership? And you had to get your family lawyer involved to get your deposit back?

And now you are trying to get a BRZ again? Dude make up your mind. Stop flip flopping and make up your mind. You are worse then John Kerry.

You'll bound to have the brz for the rest of your life; what's 3 weeks of waiting if you can as you put it "pop it's cherry". the other dealership sounds odd to me. They seem to be jumping through a lot of hoops to get you your WRB brz when they already have a perfectly fine red brz on the lot that can be sold pretty easily. do you at least have a deposit down at this hoop jumping dealership for them to be doing all this?

I am interested if $500 below MSRP and 2.9% APR

Why don't you just make the trip to that dealership and drive the car back yourself? It would make for a fun roadtrip I bet

I drove 2100 miles right off the bat after picking up my car. Just make a conscious effort to vary your rpm as you drive and you'll be fine. I only exceeded 4krpm twice on the drive down from New Hampshire... until I broke 1000 miles... then hit the Tail of the Dragon.
