LOL, yes I have improvised using other tools in the past... but I would prefer not to chew up or destroy the lockring teeth if it is avoidable. Which is why I suggested using a spanner wrench plus a long pipe as a cheater bar

If, after disassembly, the springs rebound to their spec free length, I'd clean, repaint, and whatevs them. Would have to get free length from the MFR.

Rebuild for $600, though? Pretty sweet.

Amazingly when I did it, it didn’t destroy the lockring teeth... but that doesn’t mean anyways lol

I wonder why those suspension lockring key are so damn small & hard to use.

Because they're only supposed to be torqued to ~100 ft-lbs, you'd be surprised how much torque you can put on something with <10" of leverage.
