Yea, unless it's a search and rescue, or maybe a airliner (Internal lighting), you pretty much have Nav lights (green and red), strobe lights (blinking white lights) and a landing light. You could also light up the instrument panel.

Instrument panel would be cool, but how would you back light a decal (assuming a decal is used)? That's one reason why I never attempted to put lights behind the gauges in the car models. Lol

Do these fighter planes even have those external lights listed? Would have thought they wouldn't want any lighting on the exterior to make it more difficult to see. Then again, I know nothing when it comes to planes.

my sister and mom outright refuse to go with me to craft stores anymore. every aisle, there's some trinket that can be repurposed for this project or that project. and before i know it, i've built an entire diorama in the cart out of shrink wrapped stuff. and they only wanted to stop by for a package of sewing needles, or a new scissors...

Not like I can run down to the store for Christmas decorations in mid April. That is if the stores were even open! I could use cotton balls but even pulled apart they are denser than I want.

if you didn't live so far away, i know exactly where my box of polyfil is, could have as much as you want!

I could see doing it by inserting a thin clear sheet behind it, then blacking out the portions not behind an instrument. You would backlight the plastic and it should show through the decals. It would be difficult of course.

Military aircraft have the standards lights on them (at least the ones I've seen) you just run dark when you don't need them.

So there is a lot of skepticism on the modeling forum that I can pull off the damaged aircraft.
It is relatively easy really since nothing looks quite like torn an buckled aluminum as torn and buckled aluminum. It is just a matter of replacing the the plastic with appropriate materials.

Or would that make the pommie model crew blow a gasket?

Actually be pretty easy in larger scales.
In the smaller scales (1/72 & 1/48) you can usually hardly see the panel anyway so lighting it up would only work on certain aircraft.

This works but it is a lot of trouble for a few lights.

Everything that needs to be mangled, missing or moved cut off.
Spent a couple of hours effectively doubling the parts count in the kit.

Switched over from the lighting to starting to polish the body. Started with the hood, and calling it a day. Wet sanded with 2000 grit, the. 2500, then toothpaste, then, CG V36, then V38, and oddly enough, Meguiar's Scratch X since the CG V38 didn't really give a good final polish (that's why I don't use them on my real car).

Not bad for just Tamiya cans. =)

First picture is the reflection of my window. Can see the window screen! Second pic is showing the reflection of the JBL logo.

And that is why 99.2% of my paints are flat!
