Ah, bummer. Didn't realize that NSX was a 1/18. Which company made it? Don't see too many JDM cars in 1/18.

I have about 90 models, most of which are JDM, all 1:18, all with opening parts, mostly made by Autoart but I also have Kyoshos, 1 Sunstar, 1 Ebbro and maybe a few other brands.

Here are some pics. This is not even all of them. Not enough room to display all plus a good chunk are in pieces in various stages of build.

Even after 5 decades of model building I am always still blown away by the increase in detail just a few jumps in scale can make. To get that sort of detail in 1/35 or 1/24 is almost impossible. Of course you can sort of indicate what is there but the smaller scale just eliminates many of the things that are so visible in the larger.
I have had some 1/24 aircraft kits in my hands a few times just to build something with that detail but reason always took over and I put them back. Not only is the price exuberant but where the hell do you display something with a two foot wingspan?

well sure if you just want to stare at the bottom. Defeats the whole idea of having more detail if you can't look at it.

To be fair, I've seen some VERY well detailed models in 1/24 scale. It just takes patience and the right tools. Experience helps of course, as well as being able to get advice from more seasoned hobbyists.

OH There are nice details but they still are blown away by many or the 1/18 even though it is really not that much larger.
I have more modeling tools than most on this forum have car ones! It is almost silly how much I have. Like does anybody really need 12 different tweezers or 100 small paint brushes?

I get it though. At one point I built a very large ship model of the USS Constitution. It was about 4 ft long when complete with all kinds of rigging, etc. Unfortunately, didn't consider where I would display it, and didn't have a place. Gave it to my Mom who displayed it on a mantle until it met an untimely death thanks to a cat that apparently wasn't a fan.

I built that one, the same size Cuddy Sark and the Alabama about 30 years ago. Had room to display them then though. When we moved to the current house they got shoved on a back shell in a storage room where they have been slowly crushed over the past 18 years. Doubt there is much left of them by now.

Last year for my birthday my brother in law gave me the Constitution kit. So now I get to build it all brand new. My skills have improved greatly in the intervening years and such things as extra thing cement and stretchy rigging thread should make it possible to do this one up as a true showpiece.

I have the Revell kit in a closet, I've been meaning to start. I don't have your experience, but I do have more patience than I did the first time I built it.

Since I'm also into woodworking, I've been thinking about a different version of the Constitution kit though (unless this is the one you have).

yes! most people also have more than 1 airbrush - 1 for paint, 1 for clear/primer etc. Multiple files - these are actually essential imo, tweezers - different tips are extremely useful. Sandpaper also. And let's not forget a good respirator!
